May 23rd, 2021 08:52 AM #13I haven't replaced my 2017 civic's serpentine belt since I got it. It's already 4 years but according to the pms schedule it should be replaced every 3 years. Based on visual inspection, it's still good no signs of cracks and is still thick. Maybe I'll replace it on the 5th year.

May 23rd, 2021 09:18 AM #14many pms manuals assume the car owner is an automotive dumbo,
hence the more aggressive replacement schedule.
after all, that is what pms is all about: pre-failure management scheme. replace it before it brakes.
but if one is knowledgeable, willing to take risks, and does not drive out into the boondocks naman, one can opt for the physical and visual inspection instead.
i do.
some owners have a spare belt in the car, for those justin cases.
i have replaced my 2005 innova's belt with over 140K km on the car,
only once.
somewhere between the 70K and 100K mark, i vaguely remember.
now that you mention it, i think it is time to inspect the belt...

how long did this natamaan na belt last since new?
some time ago, a banawe mekaniko recommended that i replace my innova's fanbelt.
after a few weeks, i asked another mekaniko not from banawe, to see if it needed replacement.
"ok pa po. hindi kailangang i-replace."
???
my over-140K km innova has had its fanbelt replaced only once pa lang.Last edited by dr. d; June 26th, 2021 at 09:12 AM.
