if we factor in the filter used, you can extend your oil change interval to 10,000 to 12,000 KM easily by simply using a high quality, heavy duty oil filter. filtration is the key to extended oil change interval. whether you are using mineral based or fs oils. diesel rigs tend to operate dirtier than petrol rigs so tendency is shorter interval for diesel rigs.

its the quality of diesel that we have here in the PH that is dirty. For some reason its not as well refined compared to other countries. hence the more need for quality filters. fuel filters my fleetguard and baldwins are superb. plus they are less expensive over oems.
or the shop owner is still using VIC, or ordinary over the counter filters. these kind of filters only lasts for 5,000 to 6,000 KM. going more than that is pushing it. plain old marketing strategy why its lifespan is so short, this way you would be forced to visit the dealership and have your oil changed.
using heavy duty oil filters plus fully synthetic oils like RP or Mobil one will easily allow you to go 10,000 to 15,000. check out some used oil analysis from bob the oil guy. look for the mobil 1 0w40, this is one superb oil.
