Used to do that with my hilander noong panahon na nagduduty kami sa mga areas na walang silungan or ayaw kami papasukin sa premises. What I do is position the exhaust towards an open area na hindi nakakaabala sa katabi, open the hood and turn on aircon. Usually mga 8-12 hours yun, depende sa anong oras dating ng relyebo mo.
Not an ideal thing to do pero sometimes situations call for drastic measures.

May 12th, 2014 04:45 PM #18more idling... more engine (and it's parts) wear...
of course the air filter will be used while idling, engine oil will absorb contaminants while idling, oil filter will be used while idling.. coolant will wear out while idling, and so on... all on zero KM per Liter..
the problem is idling is not measured on PMS, only KM reading... so a car with has a lot of idling will have its engine parts replaced sooner than the prescribed...
once in a while ok lng siguro... but the ones who always does it like govt cars, meralco and maynilad service vehicles are in deed the ones who are going to have a big problem, but they never care bec fuel is unlimited and they don't even own the vehicle, so its not their problem anymore... and we suffer for the pollution they make...

May 12th, 2014 09:49 PM #20Avoid long idling time, whether for petrol/diesel fed car, engine oil sludge may occur specially if you habitually doing it. Plus you're polluting the environment and wearing/tearing your car for zero mileage like what the aforementioned post said.
