best response i got so far which makes perfect sense. very grateful on the prompt reply. next question, since it is brand new, can we assume that its emissions are normal.... Of course. since it is also assumed that all brand new vehicles undergo formal emissions testing before they are released? Each brand new vehicle doesn't need to be tested for emissions by the dealer. This is the vehicle maker's (VM) responsibility. Each VM studies our emission standards and delivers cars that conform to our standards, or they cannot be sold in the market.

third ( i hope you dont mind rookie diesel engine queries), short of doing a formal emissions test, just confirming that black smoke from a diesel engine accelerating is indeed normal. when does it become excessive and need being brought to the casa? Excessive clouds of black smoke is obviously a sign that a vehicle needs service. On borderline cases (slight black smoke), the only way to determine if a car's emission conforms to the legal limit is through the use of an accurate smoke test equipment. A car failing the smoke test needs to be serviced as it is consuming too much fuel and polluting our air.

are there remedies to lessen such black smoke emissions like the 2T fuel additive, using euro IV compliant fuel, using diesel fuel with a higher octane rating (if there is such), using synthetic engine oil, using a special fuel filter, etc. I have no experience on these things you mentioned. In my case, I would clean/replace the air filter, and if this doesn't cure the problem, I will check/fix the fuel injection system or engine...

Minor correction, Octane=gasoline, Cetane=diesel. Tama si Dieseldude, if you see excessive smoke, it may need tuning or repair so go to a respectable shop for assistance.

sir ask ko lng po. ngpcheck po aq ng injection pump ko kc mlkas n s diesel (TD27 turbo engine) tpus ang sbi ng ng_aayos mlki n dw butas ng nozzle ng injection pump ko kya dpat ng plitan., sir dun po b tlaga un?! if ever un nga problem san po b ko pedemkbili nun. TIA & GOD BLESS

sir dieseldude,
may nabasa po ako dito thread tungkol po sa mga diesel owner adding 2t oil sa fuel and they claim that the engine runs smoother. ano po ang masasabi po ninyo about this? makakasira po ba ito sa injection pump and fuel injectors in the long run? or talagang makakatulong po ito?

Ano mileage ng pickup mo? Ok ba ang andar nya? Meron ba black smoke?

Wala akong experience sa paggamit ng 2T oil. Hindi ako maglalagay ng 2T sa common rail diesel.

Perform these checks in this order:

1) Check/replace air filter.

2) Service EGR if installed.

3) Tune up engine.

4) Check injection pump timing.

5) Check injection pump and injector calibration.

sir dieseldude pa help naman sa patrol 2001 ko,may problem is mejo nag bubuga sya ng grayish and black smoke pag nadidiinan ko yung accelerator,nway bago ko makuha to sa previous owner bago calibrate injection pump nya and bgo yung turbo may casa records..ska every 5k nag chchange oil po ako and bago palit din airfilter,2pcs fuel filter and pati fuel pump bago na din..wala naman po prob sa andar ng engine matining din po yung andar nya kaya i doubt na maf sensor ang problem nag aad na din ako ng 2t since nababasa ko po dito sa forum na maganda mag add ng 2t sa krudo...ang problem ko lang mejo nag bubuga lang sya ng black smoko pag mejo nadidiinan ska lalo na pag akyatan parati po kse ako nakatingin sa sidemirror kaya nakikita ko po..sana po matulungan nyo po ako salamat po in advanced...manual po pala patrol ko with zd30 engine wala nga pong ka oil leaks oil leaks eh...
