Kakatapos lang ng warranty period ng kotse ko. Had my last oil change in January I think, so I have Honda's fully-synthetic oil in my sump (which is actually provided by Idemitsu).
Now I'm rather curious, opting between Motul (at Autoplus) or Royal Purple (at Speedyfix). Matagal-tagal pa naman ako bago ko kailangang magpalit ng langis ulit.

these days any synthetic will do nicely anyway...
in fact, most mineral oils are patok na din for value. kahit yung sa petron with the lousy packaging. wag lang yung 20w-50s.
if i had a lot of money i'd stick with honda branded oil. there's some sort of implied warranty for the engine internals if you take it to them for servicing on a regular basis since 50% of broken internals result from bad oil pagdating sa honda. oil lang nila gamit mo eh, so if you suddenly break a camshaft, wala naman sila sisisihin eh, hehehe. and if you're friendly and remember to tip the SA from time to time, you can have things checked out for free.

Good Day...
You mentioned - you want to do it yourself... and also, gusto niyo makatipid.
My question... bakit kailangan synthetic?
If you want makatipid.. then you can change your oil yourself. This is probably one of the easiest job for any DIYer's.
Any 10W40 Oil will do... But in my experience...(that includes racing and daily driving), Ultron is one of the best cheap oils you can buy.
Buy a filter... and buy also a filter spanner tool... marami diyan sa auto-supply or ACE or Handyman.
Be sure to warm your engine up at least 5 minutes... turn it off. See your owners manual to locate the Drain Plug... then alow oil to drain but see to it you have an old plastic or Can big enough to hold all your used oil.
removing the oil Cap is also advised when you do this... para mabilis bumaba yung langis.
Then as is cools down... you may remove the oil filter. To remove it... use the Oil Filter removal tool... since this is somewhat not easy to turn with your bare hands. As soon as this is done. You can ready your new Oil Filter by applying a small amount of oil on the seals.. (o-ring, subber seal) facing the metal surface of the engine block. Be sure to wipe the mating area with a clean clothe para walang dumi. Then Hand tight the oil filter in place (clockwhise rotation)... see to it that aligned ang filter dun sa thread ng inlet stud ng engine block para hindi masira yung filter. (just do it with care) dont over tight it para hindi masira ang seal.
WHen this is done... and wala ng tumutulo na oil... then you can put back the drain plug in place... and pour in your new Oil.
Replace the Gas Cap... then start your engine.
Para - mas sigurado... I would suggest using NewOil additive (P500 per treatment). This is an additive that treats the metal and conditions your oil ... it elliminates oil acidity and keeps your engine frictionless too. )(based on my experience... what I suggested made my engines more efficient and I get to enjoy them for less than the average cost you are doing with your car.) And when you do this... you dont have to change oil for the next 2 years. You may if you want but it will only be unnecessary. (This is where real savings comes in) (not to mention your engine's protection - wear and tear is prolonged and will mean savings again from periodic maintenance).
With the above tip... you will be able to lower your Oil-Change cost to roughly P1,500 more or less (All in)
Allow extra P100. for your merienda, for sure, medyo pagpapawisan ka when you do this.
I hope this helps.Last edited by ehnriko; April 28th, 2008 at 07:09 AM.

ok na sana eh, kaso nasingitan pa ng additives, IMO no need for additional additives....
so the oil doesn't keep the internal parts of the engine frictionless? I always thought that the oil does that, hinde pala...and hinde magpapalit ng oil for 2 years!? sobrang galing naman ng additives mo...heheheLast edited by shadow; April 29th, 2008 at 09:55 AM.

April 29th, 2008 06:20 PM #19Most car manufacturers do not recommend using oil additives. I belive they even put it in writing in the manual or warranty booklet.

I think the best oil for your car, is the one that your budget can afford...
.... additives are all hype.... engine oil is formulated with ALL the necessary additives for your vehicle's engine... so one should never experiment adding this or that without proven and verified results....
