    Greased my hands this weekend......

    1. I retightened the headbolts and guess what.... they moved at 50 ft-lbs.....as per the manual, the rated torque is 88 ftlbs....I'm beginning to hate these torque tighten type of headbolts.

    2. As I was putting back the rocker shaft-valve assy, 2 bolts holding down the rocker assy don't seem to tighten. I removed the bolts and cleaned the threads using a tap and die. Put them back and still the same. Problem even got worse and the threads were almost flat....took out the camshaft bearing cap #2 and #3 and metal shavings were on the camshaft (good thing i removed the caps). Bought the caps for P500 each.

    3. Pulled down the fan-clutch assy and cleaned the bimetal coil with brake cleaner then a shot of WD40 on the pin holding the coil and confirmed its movement.....With my wife gunning her hair dryer on the metal coil, i rotated the fan.....for 5 minutes of heating the coil, clutch resistance don't seem to increase....Since the stores are closed and need to use the truck asap, I put it back with cross fingers.

Engine pulling power improved plus the engine runs crisper....Tested it on traffic with A/C on. Still climbs to 93C but doesn't seem to climb faster than before beyond 93C....

I've been chasing this overheating problem since the day I got this truck and I think I have one last enemy to attack: the fan clutch!....New Japanese replacement costs P3k plus!!!! I'll scout around the surplus shops for a clutch and I'll update you guys.

Good if puwede ka pa pumasok mismo para maghanap. Makakapili ka ng pinakamaayos like to cracks, dents or chips and not rusted yung metal parts if ever. Sipag ah.

^ Can i just remove the air-bleeder valve of the thermostat?

Im suspecting also a defect on the clutch so iL try to rebuild the clutch using this.

I need to check the weight of this oil, can somebody translate the jap characters.. hehe

sana ok na ang car mo. it couldnt be tstat. kasi kung tstat, mag over heat yan while on motion. actually, the function of the tstat is to trap heat in order for the engine to reach the normal operating temp as quick as possible. while others may not agree, our cars will function even better without the tstat as we are in the tropics. pampasadang jeep na halos hindi namamatay ang makina dahil sa palagiang gamit, tinatanggal talaga ang tstat. sobrang init kasi sa atin. regarding sa clutch fan, refilling it with silicon is most practical. mura lang naman yan, around 80 petot yata ang tube. kung talagang nagtitipid, lock mo nalang. sabay sa ikot ng crankshaft. my 2 cents.
