February 23rd, 2016 10:15 PM #21The alternator usually use 6 diodes (for 3 phase). It's difficult to check diodes in-circuit.
Tips for alternator troubleshooting:1. low/intermittent charging - carbon brushes. 2. if bad ic reg. - overcharging depende sa ckt config. Kung ako may-ari niyan at ang problema ay ic, i'll replace the ic with an outboard module with discrete parts, two xtors, one or two zeners, several res and caps, probably two 1A silicon diodes. Syempre, may heatsink ang 2N3055.
This outboard voltage reg module will outlast the car because it can be repaired without opening the alternator.
Imo, the last item that could cause the problem is the 3 phase coil due to the # 12awg or better, winding. Possible problem, but not probable.

many youtube videos at internet articles say that greater than 0.5 volts AC means a shorted diode.

after some threads sa internet, marami nagsasabi na dahil daw sa chipipay na multimeters. yun nga siguro. i'll check with fluke or some high end meters sa mga kakilala.

Honda jazz 2005 matic user.
one day habang nag ddrive pansin ko parang himihina makina ko while about to stop sa intersection. when i finally stop napansin ko nka ilaw battery light ko sa dash.. not blinking.. as in na ka on lang. so what i did pinatay ko makina.. sori mali ata un. i tried to start pero ayaw kumagat. waited for a few seconds ayun nag start. naipark ko pa yung oto sa office, battery light never went on again.. so akala ko bka glitch lang.
pauwi ako while driving napansin ko parang kakapusin nnmn makina ko.. so before ito mangyari ni park ko muna sa gas station.. then pag hinto ko ayun na.. umilaw na battery light sa dash, bumagsak rpm ko then namatay makina.. pero i can still see the dash lights. pinatay ko, then restart ok naman pero andun parin battery light sa dash, tapos babagsak rpm then mamatay makina.. pero lights on the dash are still on.
a friend of mine adjusted the "menor" then he said kapag nka stop ako ilagay ko sa "n" then kadyot konti gas para wag bumagsak yung rpm. after that ni restart ko jazz, battery lights are now off. nag drive nko.. pero pansin ko kakapusin parin makina.. then pag huminto ako ayun mag on ulit battery light then mamatay makina. after restart aandar na.. eventually nakauwi ako.. sobrang kabado sa slex.
im planning to have my battery checked, pero kakabili ko lang nito eh. ibabalik ko dun sa binilhan ko para ma check nila.. you think alternator issue na ito mga sir?
sori sa mahabang istorya.
