For one, there are no MG plants in the UK, everything is made in China. Land Rover is still mostly built in the UK, Volvo is still mostly built in Sweden.
Second, while the Longbridge facility still exists as a research center, their cars are designed jointly with Shanghai. You have a few British employees but the vast majority of MG's employees are in China. Again, this is different from the likes of Volvo which still have over 60% of employees in Sweden.
Third, the cars are very, very different in identity now than they were with the original MG brand which rose to prominence with roadsters and coupes. Today, they essentially make mass-market econoboxes with low price points. In contrast, Land Rover still makes luxury 4x4s, Volvo still keeps its premium heritage rooted heavily on safety.
Ultimately, Jaguar and Land Rover retained their British spirit even after they were sold to Tata (and Ford before that). Volvo retains its Swedish roots even after the Geely acquisition (and again Ford before that). MG is a completely different marque now than it was 2 decades ago - one that is heavily influenced by its parent company, SAIC.
