Does anyone here have experience on buying a car for grab? Our driver proposed to my Auntie to buy a Vios for grab (20% down) He will drive it and the monthly amort will come from the profit. I thought they were buying the car in cash but when I found out na loan and it will be under my name parang ayoko na ata.

My Dad NEVER EVER bought a car on loan. Daddy told us the only time utang is acceptable is for properties/assets - never a car. Tumatak talaga sa mind ko yan. Now I am supposed to loan a Vios?

Anyway, is Grab still profitable? A Vios 1.3 J M/T costs P732k, at 20% down the monthly is P19,820. Basta P250k daw ibibigay na pera ng Auntie ko sakin. Worst case scenario, kung wala pambayad ng Amort, ayoko mahatak yun e di sira ako sa Toyota/Bank? I will have to pay it off, lugi na ko sa interest plus what the heck will I do with a Vios? Also, if I do sell it, ang baba nun kasi taas ng mileage Also, our driver said sa kanila iga garage yun car, shouldn't it be with us? Kasi kami yung "operator" . Our driver is a good guy, known him for decades, but he still owes us some money from building his house back in 2017 though LOL. Medyo hindi ako confident, ang optimistic ng projection e.

pero just to share. nung nasa Taxi business kami (very long time ago), nag babago rates ng loan and insurance once the car is for hire. Since Grab needs an LTFRB franchise, baka similar set-up sya.

and when we were nasa PUV business - pinapauwi namin talaga sa drivers yung sasakyan. some drivers want to go out in the middle of the night or very early in the morning and hassle naman kung nasa amin naka-parking yung car.

lastly, based on experience. the PUV business works if you have a fleet. min-3 units. anything less than that will be really hard.

personally,

no impetus on his part to strive.
and when he fails to come over from whatever reason, he still comes out unscathed.
whatever happens to the car, he's not responsible.
if the paymemts default, he's not the one with a bad rep.

19,820 pesos a month comes out as about 800 pesos a day x 25 days a month, excluding gasoine and car maintenance, as well as take-home income.

Another thing, dati bigla siya nag resign samin e nagulo mundo namin kasi I was working then so hindi talaga makakalabas seniors without a driver, kaya hiniram tauhan ng Tita ko na super palpak naman.

If ya all are familiar with Cathy's post re her family, it's easy to conclude that Cathy's Aunt never really gave much thought on the sustainability of this scheme. Her primary objective was to help. She's not even aiming to recover her 250k. Si Cathy ang naipit dito, the driver gets a free pass any which way. But even if Cathy can get her Aunt to guarantee full payment, the problems do not end there. Pag may nasira or maintenance need sigurado wala syang provision for this. Pano na kung maaksidente pa? Then the driver's living expenses will go up. Kung dati yan madalas sa bahay lang, lalabas yan with family para mag outing, worse with barkada pa. Sarap ng may sariling service hehe.

Ang galing mo, my Aunt is only doing this para mas may income yung driver namin. How did you know because I never mentioned it, but yeah she told me na para tulungan driver namin. He proposed na kasi na yung isang car ko igrab niya para pag hindi namin siya kailangan pwede siya mag grab and we both could earn. Ayoko malaspag car ko saka hindi rin naman pwede kasi luma na. So he told my Auntie na hindi nga ko pumayag LOL

I trust our driver, may malasakit yun saka hindi mapagsamantala pero my Mom said dapat sa house namin nakaparada yung car.

bakit sa name mo ilalagay? bakit di na lang sa aunt mo ipangalan, para labas ka na don.. problema na nila yan..

iba din insurance nyan pag gagamitin sa grab.. mas malaki..

dapat yan magaling yung mag o operate.. dapat daily ang pasok nang boundary.. para sigurado may pambayad sa monthly / maintenance and insurance.. mabilis din magpalit nang gulong yan.. and mas mabilis ang change oil..

I won't get a cent from this pero it looks like magpo problema ako kasi sakin magbabayad driver namin so ako ang magde deposit sa bank at maga accounting. My Aunt never questioned me when it comes to money but we are not in good terms with her husband. Mahirap when money comes in, baka may masabi pa sakin.

Even if you're comfortable ... DO NOT AGREE ... risk-reward is just not there ... there's no insurance and all the liability is on you ...

If aunt insists ... then just give the 250T cash to the driver ... tell driver to declare the car went off a bridge and got swallowed by a whale or was taken by aliens ...

Buy the driver a motorcycle or a Bajaj RE tricycle ... then he applies to one of those delivery service gigs ...

Solved na ata problema ko, one benefit of being jobless - I can't get a loan

My Mom doesn't like the grab idea as well so when I told her na I just realized I won't get approved because I don't have a job, tawang tawa siya. Ewan ko kung tawa ng tuwa or awa HAHA

BTW gusto ng Auntie ko 2 vios agad e wala naman magdrive nung isa

I thought of that, to get him a motorcycle pero he is 40s na kasi, parang pang bata lang delivery apps/motorcycle

10 km radius from my house lang ako nagd drive. Nightmare ko yan mag drive sa unfamiliar places tapos traffic pa.
