Thought I'd share since it's card related. Over lunch I received a call from a "BDO" agent asking me if someone already reached out to me regarding the mandatory replacement of my BDO MC card. First reaction was "Duh?". What is this lady talking about? I politely said no and she started explaining this is gonna happen to all cards since the new card will be more secure. She then asked if I prefer branch pickup or home delivery. I said home. I kept on waiting for her to ask for any details but she didn't. Plus I have more than one card with them so I was waiting for her to mention about the others. Nada. She just thanked me and said please wait for a call when the card is ready for delivery. So I finished my errands and when I got home, I immediately called Pia. (Hello Pia Wurtzbach here. Did you know.....) I was able to get an agent quick and informed her of what happened. She double checked my account and asked if I had given any info to the caller. I told her none because I was actually waiting for the caller to ask for any info from me but that never happened. So the agent suggested to have my cards blocked and replaced. I thought it would be best too. So now all is so far good and I'll just wait for the replacements. I'm still curious though as to what was the intent of the lady who called me up. Did she just decide to not push thru with the scam, if indeed it was one?

March 1st, 2024 06:08 PM #456someones tried it on me.
what tipped me off, was that i do not have any BDO card to my name.
"not innerested. sorry". click.
they're probably playing the statistics. "marami kasi ang may BDO card."
some reports say that scams average a 15% success rate.
if they call 20 prospects,
and only three bite, hook, line and sinker,
sulit na yon.
wala naman silang investment kundi saliva.Last edited by dr. d; March 1st, 2024 at 06:22 PM.

Maybe the scammers is sizing you up. Reminds me of when talking to an old senior, some of them are ready to kwento their whole life including personal details pag kinausap mo. May mga tao na pag kausap mo madali mag bitaw personal details. The scammers might have sensed na guarded mo sinasabi mo. You dont easily drop details.

Set you up to expect a call. When that call comes you will be warmer to give out your information.
