Got myself a Nuvi 610. Got it cheaper without any map pre-installed. Was able to load Middleast Map Version 5. Hope to try also the philippine map when I get back for vacation soon.
Some questions:
1. Can a 4GB SD card work on the unit? How about MicroSD?
2. The SMS feature seems to be only available on 660 or 700 series model. Is there anyway to upgrade the firmware so that I can receive SMS thru the Nuvi.
In anycase, the Nuvi 610 is great. Its truly a distraction and need to keep my eyes on the road.

SMS/text messaging support has been added to the 610 since firmware v2.60. You can get the latest firmware (currently v4.60) from the Garmin site:
http://www8.garmin.com/support/downl...ls.jsp?id=1923
Support for 4GB SD cards has also been added since v2.60. I see no problems using a microSD card as long as you have a fullSD card adaptor.

Update: Bought an N82 and downloaded the free Philippine map over the net that's compatible with Garmin, purchased Garmin XT, and pretty satisfied. Hehe... nice. Installed it din to a friend's N95. Sulit!
