May 5th, 2015 11:29 PM #1021Honestly, most of the insurance companies in the country are capable of paying. however, most of them are big companies and operated with lots of employees with different values. that is where it really matters the most. the Claim employee who seeks to help customers... who cares and explains how to claim properly without bias. premium payments should be your last priority. Most of the lowest price has a catch, its either a fake or with insurance policy but the agent will not remit it properly thus making the policy unworthy when you need it the most.

June 15th, 2015 03:34 PM #1025question to all, regarding deductible on brand new montero sport glx. standard po ba na 1% of sum insured ang deductible amount? Masyadong mabigat yung 1% (P12,180) na deductible. Ang montero po ba ay classified as private car or commercial vehicle? Kung private car sya, pwede pa bang bumaba yung deductible amount? Thanks in advance for your reply

June 15th, 2015 10:57 PM #1027Just a little bit of history regarding the rates of SUVs. The case of the rate of SUV is an anomaly. This all started about 20 years ago with Toyota FX. Originally they were given a rate similar to Commercial Vehicles, which then had an average rate of 2.5% if my recollection is correct. At the time, PCs (sedans, light cars like Corolla, Lancer) had a rate of I think about 3%, even higher for heavy cars like Crown. As for the deductible, i dont remember when it was increased but I do remember it did raise a howl of protest for many clients. I think it could be mid 90s or early 90s. Deductible at the time was 500 flat for PC and 1,000 for CV. Nothing they could do though as insurers at the time were suffering from heavy losses due to widespread minor claims. However, flash forward to today and private cars whether light or heavy is now bundled together with an average rate of about 1.8% while CVs (light trucks) is about 2.5%, usually for approval. Whereas the rate of SUVs goes lower and lower until now it only has an average rate of about 1.3% and majority of insurers now even give it a deductible of just 0.5%. Rates right now are so competitive thats why many insurance companies are closing down.
Disclaimer: Rates above are just based on my memory with the insurance company I was with at the time. It could be different with other insurers.

June 16th, 2015 11:22 AM #1028Thanks sir derf for your explanation. Most of the big insurance companies that I talked to had 1% of sum insured as deductible, default na yata sa kanila na commercial vehicle ang montero kahit na gagamitin mo sya for private use. Upon negotiation & asking them to treat the vehicle as private car binabaan naman nila yung deductible. Pero yung iba, ayaw talaga babaan. Buti madami tayo pagpipilian. Sa mga maliliit n insurance companies na nakausap ko, maliit na premium, maliit pa din ang deductible. Kaya lang nakakatakot kumuha sa kanila ng insurance, baka during claim hindi mo n sila makontak.
Thanks to Nica from Mapfre, she gave me a good deal, a good premium & a reasonable deductible.

June 16th, 2015 01:59 PM #1030yes sir. bpims quote is 10k deductible, 0.75% of sum insured. pero mas mataas sa malayan, 12k (1%). sa mapfre din sa ibang branch nila 12k ang quote pero negotiable naman. For pioneer, charter ping-an, federal phoenix, 6k & below ang deductible nila. Pag in-house s dealer mura lng deductible pero mahal naman ang premium.
