Coast in gear when the conditions are right, instead of accelerating even though you can see that cars are already slowing down or stopped a couple of hundred meters ahead.

December 9th, 2018 10:57 AM #15Hi just a quick question. I have a Civic FD 2009 1.8S A/T and the fuel consumption is 7.24km/L city driving mostly and moderate traffic. Okay lang po ba yun base from the age of the car and sa mileage nya na 84,400+km driven already?

Why spoil the fun? You mean to say that you are limiting the revs to 2500 rpm. Peak torque arrives at 4k rpm for the R18 engine and peak power comes at 6k rpm. Limiting its revs to below 2500 rpm is like putting chains on the legs of the horse.
If driven aggressively, you might end up doing around 7 km/L but you have more fun. Bring it to the highway and let it rip.

If you do 7.24 km/L with tame driving, hindi aabot ng 7 km/L if you drive aggressively.
I've tried it and there's a 1.5-2 km/L penalty if you rev hard. So living with 5 km/L is a much higher expense just to cover the same distance.
And you don't need to rev hard all the time. You can be faster than surrounding traffic without exceeding 3000 rpm.
