The engine upon start up gulps fuel, observe your tachometer upon start up it kicks as high as more than 2k rpm before it gradually descend to the idle speed
An engine idles at 700-800 rpm and peaks at 1k rpm when the aircon compressor couples to the engine
From there you can compute and deduce which consumes more fuel. The more revolution, the more fuel that gets burned
Assuming the tachometer needle goes up and down for 2sec in 2000rpm (66.667rev). With the gradual descent to idle speed pegged at 1sec for 1500rpm (25rev), another 1sec for 1000rpm (16.667rev), another 1sec for 800rpm (13.333rev). So after 5secs upon start up the engine rotated for a total of 121.667rev. For a minute it will be 855revolutions. For 2 minutes it will be 1655rev. For 3 minutes it will be 2455rev
The same engine that idled for 5sec at 800rpm will result to 66.667rev. For a minute it will be 800revolutions. For 2 minutes it will be 1600rev. For 3mins it will be 2400rev
The same engine that idled for 5sec with aircon compressor coupled for a span of 2s will revolve for 73.333. For a minute it will be 806.667revolutions. For 2minutes it will be 1606.667rev. For 3minutes it will be 2406.667rev
Based on these computations the engine revolution will always be higher with engine start up.
I hope that satisfies your curiosity

The 30minutes idle scenario is practical only in the parking lot. In other words you dont stay idle for 30minutes in an intersection or on the road
And its always more frugal to shut your engine if you dont intend to move for a long period of time
Fuel drives a combustion engine and it doesnt matter if its gas or diesel. In the absence of fuel the engine stalls just like when a fuel tank gets dry.

May 26th, 2017 01:48 AM #25Sa 01 E150 4.6 V8 30 gallon fuel tank return type fuel system. Basta puno yung fuel tank 1 hour idling di pa aabot ng 1liter/hr. Basta yan dala ko inaabot ako 2-3hrs idling. 3 yung fuel line from fuel tank supply, return at evap.
Ang advantage ng OHV over OHC are reliability. Masarap pati idrive OHV kasi malakas Torque.
Based on scantool 1.3-1.5 liters / hr daw fuel consumption.
Clean the air by burning more Fuel without producing power. Isn't it stupid?
Sa Venezuela gasoline only cost $0.06 USD per US gallon. Pang 10th place lang Venezuela sa world's largest oil producing country worldwide. Tingnan mo kung anong country yung nasa 3rd place today. Sila yung 1st place noong 2014. From what cave, mountain or stone aged country daw ako galing at hindi ako marunong mag pump ng fuel in english. Sabi ko, Sorry I'm came from 3rd world country. Gas station employs people who pumps fuel for me, check engine oil, coolant, tire pressure and cleans my windshiled at no extra cost.
FACT: AViation Fuel aka AVGAS is still leaded until today. Madumi sunugin unleaded at mahina hatak.

May 26th, 2017 08:44 AM #26Wag mo alalahanin ang fuel consumption during start up, mas alalahanin mo ang starter mo.
