BTT: A more modern update
Toyota Global Site | Fuel Cell Vehicle
An indirect approach of using Hydrogen to power the vehicle. Instead of the common approach of splitting water & using the Hydrogen for combustion to power the piston run engine, Toyota engineers are using Hydrogen to power an electric motor which will in turn run the vehicle. Big difference is that the Hydrogen is not manufactured on board the vehicle, but has to to be refilled in a hydrogen generating center.
