there are other ways to have fun on driving a car. just like when i drove a mini cooper S, it was much slower than my STi but i had more fun driving it because it was easy to drive and easy to throw into corners. it felt like i was driving a gokart not a car.
just ignore the dumb comments about how a lexus is a rebadged toyota, it's your car and your money you spent on it. if you're happy with it then congrats on the purchase.

So... why were you looking at Lexii and Bimmers?
You obviously wanted a "prestige" car, so you went shopping for an expensive one. If it was all about the car, you would have shopped everywhere before making the choice.
If all you wanted was a car that was luxurious and powerful, there are a lot of choices cheaper than either of the two. One of which I mentioned already:
A car that's bigger than any of the "luxury" compacts, is almost as luxurious as an LS or 7-series at half-the-price, with a 300 hp V6, parking cameras, good leather, stability control, adaptive suspension control, power reclining rear seats, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. And it's rear-wheel drive, to boot. Even Kelley Blue Book, the go-to publication for resale and residual values in the US, gave it their stamp of approval.
The only thing wrong with the car is... you guessed it... the badge. It just isn't "prestigious".
Even better... you could have looked at an Accord, Camry, Sonata, Mazda6 or even a Teana... all cheaper... all more luxurious and more spacious... and two of them are more powerful, to boot.
You buy a Lexus IS for the badge. Same as with a BMW or a Mercedes. You do get more for your money compared to other luxury marques, but you can get even more for that money if you look at at non-luxury marques.
Nothing wrong with any of their cars, but if you claim it's "all about the car" and go on to post your views in car comparison, get ready for a debate.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

December 8th, 2010 01:36 PM #35My in-law and friends have bmw's before and they all sold it already. My dad has gone through 4 S Class's and the older Benz are better built than the new ones. Electronics in MBs are easily broken. Our manager has the last model E-class and the power windows are broken. For Audi, I only rode my friend's Q5 but it's still new so can't comment on reliability yet. No experience yet on Lexus so can't comment yet. People here still go for the image of Benz.

i agree, sir your point is taken. the badge is a premium, so you have to pay the price. There are really more "featured" cars out in the market then badges of BMW, Benz, etc.
Lexus Badge is not that bad as well, majority of filipinos just don't know what is luxury brand or not, they only know popular luxury brands.

December 8th, 2010 04:20 PM #38Dude.. i bought this car for its "SAFETY", and "DURABILITY" and the best in "COMFORT" for my PREGNANT wife...
that's what i payed for...
i did look at all the casas i could think of. honda? subaru?
i choose this because it has 8 airbags and most supportive backsupport when sitting... (very important for her)
and ALSO.. sometimes you need to PAY to get a little EXTRA...
Badge? if i wanted a car with a blingy badge i would have choosen an bmw or audi... but i didn't hahaha

did he get it brand new? my dad owned all S class's that came out since 2000 and none of them had any issues at all, he owns it for 3-5 years before he sells it. of course this was maintained properly, he still has 1 left right now and he got it in 06 still no problems at all. we've owned a couple of bmw's but only x3's and x5's, on one of our x3 we had a couple of electrical issues like the power windows not responding but nothing bmw casa couldn't fix and they fixed it for free.
from my experience, bmw and mb was much more reliable than any asian car we've owned. yon nga lang talo ka talaga sa maintenance. but what i love the most on bmw's and mb's is matigas ang kaha and the paint is really hard to scratch, unlike jap cars kahit kuko lang gamitin mo pwede mo gasgasan and malambot ang body.
i can't the say the same on audi since no one in my family has one. i've known a couple of people who owns one but they usually replace their car after 3 years.
