Me kapalit na talaga ang 4ja1 (y2005 pa) its the 4JK1-TC iTEQ, though not available here. Tagal ko tong inantay... haaayyy...
Yung turbo ng 4ja1 na A/T is low charge turbo to compensate sa power sap ng Automatic tranny and exhaust emmisions, NOT for the sake of performance.
Yung 4jx1 (y2000)is a flawed design, given na recurrence ng problem nito . The real power house of isuzu is the 3.0 4JJ1-TCX, again not available here.

July 20th, 2010 12:18 AM #22anu pala ang engine ng Dmax and Alterra? dapt kasi ang 2.5 Crdi ng DMax thats available in thailand ang lagay sa crosswind.. and dapat din nissan should install a turbo on their vans.. pati urvan estate walang turbo...

Kapag ang diesel engine e hindi well maintained magiging mas maingay, mas mausok, mas mabagal at mas malakas ang vibration kesa sa isang well maintained ke 4ja1 o td27 pa yan. Subukan nyong ipagtabi ang 4ja1 na bago with a hilux or montero sport na bago din halos walang pinagkaiba sa ingay and vibration. Na experience ko ito sa pagsundo ko sa mga anak ko sa school kung saan naka-idle mga ganitong mga sasakyan kasi paraparehong naghihintay. Magkakaiba na kapag medyo yung isa e medyo 2 to 3 years old na yung makina.
Pero dapat talaga magkaroon na ng crdi version ang 4ja1. Pero mukhang malabo kasi sa interview sa president ng isuzuphil sa topgear mag e they still have a large market for this (4ja1) type of engine daw who will always seek vehicles that are proven to be reliable, economical and etchetera. This is their niche market daw. Hay naku somebody should wake him up.
Just think of an isuzu sportivo with 4ja1 crdi turbo engine with the same price as now, real contender di ba? It will surely create a buzz and a much bigger market for them.

kung sa patipiran lang naman e panalo ang 4ja1. mahina nga lang sa accel pero sa isang litro krudong kinarga mo e mas malayo ang mararating kesa td27. nasubukan ko na parehas. pati 4d56 talo sa FC. hindi naman mahina kung tutuusin ang 4ja1. kahit karga mo 500 kg kayang kaya ang 40kmh sa halsema hway. naka A/C pa.
as per experience, di rin maselan ang 4ja1 sa maintenance.
kung sa panginginig ng makina e ayaw nyo nun may free massage na kayo. wihihihihihi

July 20th, 2010 08:40 PM #25Well... yung Urvan may 200cc advantage kahit papano even if they have pretty much similar power figures. Lang hiya talaga ang Nissan, ilang taon na ang Urvan binebenta pa! Yang TD27 nila "TD" na nga ang pangalan eh wala pang turbo
. May nakikita akong mga converted na Urvan TD27ETi ang makina (at least yun ang nakasulat sa likod), yun yata ang may turbo, UMC could have used that particular configuration. Ang 4JA1 naman, sabi nila mas matulin yan sa mga inclines kesa sa mga straights. Sa tingin ko di naman ganung kabagal ang mga Crosswind, kahit papano aabot parin ng about 140. Baka hindi talaga minemaintain ng maayos yung nakipagkarera sa Urvan. Tapos diba yung low charge turbo nilagay para ma-conform siya sa Euro-2 diba? Bat mausok parin?

Yung Urvan namin 140 km/h lang ang max. 2 Urvan tinesting ko hanggang dito lang talaga sa deretso.
Pa O.T. yung dalawang makina na yan kakain ng alikabok sa D4D wag lang titirik or magchochoke

4ja1 namin not turbo m/t malakas at matulin 10pax. papuntang Baguio 80kph paahon di pa sagad yun sa patag 120kph noon pa yun.. ngayon nakaka 140-150kph na bumubuntot ako sa 2.5 na fortuner nun.. kasi ako natesting ko na fort. na 2.5 na matic medyo mahina ng konti.. naalala ko nun nakipagkarera ako sa 2 fort.di naman ako naiwan.. sa arangkada lang.. pero sa rekta mas pino na yung 4ja1 sa 150kph.. minsan nasa driver din wala sa sasakyan minsan kahit matulin auto mo kung walang diskarte wala din

July 20th, 2010 10:56 PM #29Oo nga, nasa driver lang siguro, super bagal naman nito, yung ipv nga namin may sakay na 100 liters ng paint, kulungan ng aso (steel) tiles na 3x3 (mga 20 box) at mga ply board tapos may 7 na tao pa nakaupo na nga lang kami sa ply board eh, kayang kaya pa sa steep road mga 50 degrees yun nung pumunta kami sa farm ng lolo ko.
Meron pala nito? Kasing tipid kaya nung 4JK1-TC yung 4JA1?
4JA1 true work horse wag mo lang ipang karera.
Yung engine po ng D-Max at alterra yung 4JJ1 iTEQ yata 3.0 yun alam ko. Correct me if I'm wrong, tell me when I'm right.

Why? It still sells. The truth is... people are wary of CRDi engines, and rightfully so. Lucky you if you get the injectors to last 200-300k kilometers... but if you're one of the unlucky few whose injectors or pump give out at between 80-100k kilometers (not counting the "D4D" issue sufferers) because of contaminated diesel... then you won't relish forking over over 100k pesos to replace those injectors.
This is not mentioning maintenance issues with modern variable geometry turbos (they break if you run them too hard in the heat without cool-down... as many taxi-operators and hot-headed drivers of VGT-equipped diesels have found out). And those cost 100k plus to replace, also.
A Crosswind is a horrible, horrible vehicle. It's also mechanically very simple. With proper maintenance, it'll hit 300k kms with no issues. With improper maintenance, it'll still hit 150-200k with no issues. No timing belt/chain. No problem. Flood it. No problem. Feed it dirty diesel from the sari-sari store. No problem. Feed it used cooking oil. No problem. Feed it dirty bunker oil... well... it'll run for a few kilometers before the pump and filter clog......and the economy is jaw-dropping for a heavy car with a diesel. Recent Isuzu Diesel Mission results? 1190 kms. Around 20 km/l. In daily use with the MT in traffic, I've never seen below 10 km/l. I average around 12 or more... personal best is 16 on the highway. Only CRDi truck that I've driven that's close is the Innova. And that's because Toyota tuned for economy rather than power.
Rather than seeing a CRDi Crosswind, I'd rather see one with a modern crash structure and more stable suspension (based on the D-Max) with electronic injection control, but no CRDi, much like the Starex TCI. In fact... the base D-Max actually has a 4JA1T... surprisingly... instead of the 4JB1T. Since the new IPV is D-Max based, hopefully the Crosswind replacement will be, too.Last edited by niky; July 21st, 2010 at 10:00 AM.
