if you're compare it to sta fe yes malayo but compare it to ms no, they are both ladder in frame chassis not much diff sa ride comfort.if ride comfort bothers you i read in other forums change the spring to eibach and maintain the stock shock i think 16k+ they are now happy fort owner... ride if not the same with the ms could be better but for me the stock is just fine...about new generation issue matagal pa yon and beside the facelift is worth naman ride comfort slightly better than a previous model, aircon vent sa ceiling, steering wheel with audio control,hu with bluetooth,17 inch mags...etc.

Thank you for the feedback. Sa tingin ko kasi yung Sta. Fe ay di niya same class yung MS and Fortuner becoz wala ladder frame chasis ang Sta. Fe. Yung katapat ng MS and Fortuner ay yung Ford Everest and Isuzu Alterra. Dunno kung anu ang katapat ng Sta. Fe. Di kaya Mazda CX-9 and Subaru Tribeca and katapat ng Sta. Fe, so value for money ang Sta. Fe kasi yung CX-9 and Tribeca around 2.5 million ang presyo while yung Sta. Fe is around 1.6 million?
Just a point of clarification, the current updated/facelifted Fortuner can not be considered new generation di ba? It is still the first generation Fortuner with some updates/facelifts?

Katapt ng Santa Fe is RAV4, CR-V, Outlander, and Forester sa totoo lang pero di maiwasan kasi same price range, same seating capacity, and same diesel options. Lamang ang Santa Fe (home made CBU in Korea) sa mga totoong kalaban kasi sya lang ang may diesel option and sya lang ang 7 seater. Its more expensive than CR-V (Thailand made lang kaya mura) pero competitive with RAV4, Outlander and Forester (the other home made CBU's). Kalaban ng CX-9 and Tribecca is Veracruz also from Hyundai and Endeavor from Mitsubishi (I don't like it).
And you are right. This is just a facelifted Fortuner and can't be called a 2nd generation.

Yung Chevrolet Captiva meron ding diesel option na 4x4 and 7 seater na rin yata. Meron din Captiva na 4x2 na Diesel na 7-seater. It also has the gas option.
Yung CR-V, RAV4, Outlander and Forrester kasi mga 5-seaters lang and walang diesel option.
Maganda nga yung proma ng Sta. Fe and advanced technology yung engine because of the Variable Geometry Turbo. Ok din because of the 5-year or 100,000km warranty. Tingin ko, if the price of Sta. Fe is 100K to 150K lesser, mas dadami ang bibili nito.

Right nakalimutan ko Captiva. Pero no one trusts GM, kasi tagilid sila eh. Its a good price though. Pati pala Kia Sorento kalaban din nya...

May napansin lang ako na konting details sa gearshift ng MS, kasi nasa right side yung gearshift indicators niya instead of nasa left side. Normally, if you look at the gearshift of left hand drive vehicles, yung indicators niya nasa left side and not sa right side. Yung dating tuloy parang nasa maling side yung indicators just like yung sa For Everest. Hindi naman siya big concern pero parang kakaiba lang.

Fortuner and Montero for me since we have it already..
Both have monocoque body and both have great engines, specs, and features.
In the abbrv. "SUV", the "S" stands for Sport, and for me the word "Sport" literally means to the Santa Fe more than utility. The Santa Fe is more like a car-based SUV. Whereas the Fortuner and Montero truly looks like an SUV to me because of their size, shape, stance and style.
I don't like the Santa Fe because of the refereshened version, especially the mags and the grille.
And di ako masyadong trusted sa korean brands kasi we had a Starex before, after ilan years, puro sira na.
And what's not to like about the Santa Fe, it's still a Korean brand.

Baliktad ata. Monocoque body means unibody ang Santa Fe ang monocoque. Ang Fort and MS mga ladder frame tawag dun. Although I won't argue against your opinion pero I think I just want to make the point that the reason the two Thailand competitors are cheaper is because they have favorable tax rates than a Korean CBU Santa Fe. And comparing previous models to current modles is kinda unfair. Its like saying ayaw ko bumili ng Montero Sport kasi yung Lancer Pizza namin bulok ang suspension kalampagin sobra...

For me it's not unfair because the Santa Fe and Fortuner have their facelifted/refreshened versions already, and they're still relatively new.
And I wonder if the 2.2L CRDi of the Santa Fe is comparable to the 3.2 DI-D of the Montero and 3.0 D4D of the Fortuner? In terms of engine displacements, the Santa Fe lacks some of it. But what a great horsepower it has.
