A Honda or Toyota will still be the cheapest to maintain in the long run ... if passenger comfort is a priority, Mazda 2 is not it ... Long drive? In a Mazda 2? With passengers? ... it's ok if your passengers in the rear seats are midgets ...
Go take a look at the Honda City ... as everyone else is suggesting here ...Last edited by Walter; June 25th, 2018 at 10:47 AM.

I guess travelling with 2 kids on the rear with a Mazda2 will be fine. My Fiesta is also cramped on the rear like the Mazda2. If we are going on a road trip using it, we have to tumble down part of the rear seats to accommodate extra stuff and it can only accommodate one person on the rear.
You should consider the City if you intend to carry adults on the rear of a subcompact car. The interior room of a City is near Mazda3 and Focus interior dimensions.
How much is a Mazda2 MT nowadays? The City E MT is 820k while the City E CVT is 857k. The Suzuki Ciaz GL MT is 795k while the Ciaz GL AT is 845k.
The difference is not much of a concern. It's not even 50k.Last edited by Egan101; June 25th, 2018 at 11:54 AM.

June 30th, 2018 02:52 AM #30This is why I suggest you consider a slightly used Honda City. There are lots of 2017 City's being sold at 700+k and still negotiable. Many sport mileages below 10k kms. Basically new, and most likely still under warranty. Better, in fact, than new since break in period is over so you don't have to go through the "tight" phase and the poor FC phase.
No worries with normal reliability concerns. My friend who drives a base 2015 Jazz CVT that is now nearing 30k kms reports zero repairs other than routine maintenance.
