    One of the reasons I like the sorento is the EX led tail lights. Sayang it wasnt in the LX. Most of the features of the sportage and cx5 are actually nice to haves and not necessities for me. Pwd ngang add on mods.

    Kind of leaning towards the sorento really unless they'd give us a much better deal on the sportage.

    I had a friend with a Carens. Last year, when he was out shopping for an SUV, he had those 3 in mind at one point in time. I convinced him to get the 5-seater Sorento so he had the space for him, his wife, and 3 kids and their out of town/weekend cargo. His wife was for the Sportage coz it was newer and looked newer as well. And she had the guts to try and drive it coz it was smaller. Eventually she agreed with the Sorento. The CX-5 was much like the Sportage to him. Medyo mataas lang nga sa budget yung base model Sorento AT so he took his time selling the Carens, and saving up for the additional budget.

    Ayun, and out of nowhere, he ended up buying the Ranger. Hehehe!

    But that was because the price was right, and he goes biking.

    Just to share with you, after a month of reading reviews on all compact SUVs I considered (new RAV4, CX5, Sportage CRDi, CRV), I decided to get the Sportage CRDI primarily because of the diesel engine. When I went to the Kia Acropolis showroom to reserve the Sportage, I ended up buying the Mahogany Brown Sorento LX that literally just arrived at the showroom. No regrets!

    Did not realize it will take this long to get a test drive. Sorento was great to drive. Although did not really get a chance to really see how much power it had as it was raining.
    Mukhang wala din daw stocks ang Sorento. What I also did not like is that the dealership kept on selling me the stock they had which is the showroom unit and make it look like with the 20k discount they were offereing that I was getting a really good deal.
    For now will look into the sportage some more and another dealership and also exploring the Subaru Forester.

    Revive ko lang so I don't start a new thread. We're now choosing between sportage crdi and forester 2.0il.
    Which one would be better considering relatively low mileage, 7-8k per year. Mostly city driving. Maybe once a quarter trip sa nlex/slex.
    I am thinking flood fording capability is about the same.
    Have not test driven the sportage yet but it would have a softer ride than the forester?

    Given your use, I think the Forester would be better.

    While the Sportage CRDi has lower fuel costs and is much faster, the Forester looks and feels more upscale, both inside and out. Since you won't travel that much, the fuel savings aren't that much of an advantage for the Sportage.

    Forester is also more spacious, and has better handling and steering feel.

    I like the handling and steering feel of the forester. But was thinking if passenger ride comfort wld be better on the sportage.
    That and the price diff is holding me back. The 50k if crdi or ~200k for gas can be used for upgrades or a nice vacation.

    I have a friend who owns a cx9 and a forester. Loves the sporty feel of the forester but it tends to be stiff kasi sporty style niya. Hindi ko type itsura ng forester though so I'd go with the Sportage all around for you. If you don't mind spending an extra P50K, get the Sorento CRDi. I reserved mine na. Only the Optima got in my way so I'm also at a crossroad. Hahahaha.

    A bit late to this party pero I had this dilemma a few months ago so I want to share my elimination process. I wanted a 5-seater compact SUV for my parents (58 and 53 years old) which is fuel efficient and rides a bit high since we have rough roads within our area. I tested CX-5, Sportage, Sorento, Tucson, Rav4, ASX, and left field choices - Montero Sport and Ranger.

    After all the test drives, I started crossing out choices in my list. Montero Sport was the first to go away because of the bad steering feel. The Ranger was next because it really feels big and my father said he'd have problems parking it although I felt it is one really good truck. The Rav4 was next because it is the most expensive, it wasn't better than the other choices in most fields, and the base model was really bare although we acknowledge that the Toyota badge stands for reliability. The ASX was crossed out because it had the smallest space (cabin and boot), then the Tucson because it had no edge compared to the others and the interior finish materials felt cheap. The consideration was left with the CX-5, Sportage, and Sorento.

    I finally chose the CX-5 and purchased it late October 2013. Looks-wise, I liked CX-5 the most but this will be subjective. For the ride height, here's the funny part - The ASX looks the lowest, but it actually has the highest ground clearance at 8.5 inches vs 7.5 inches from the Kia offerings. I had this confirmed and measured during the test drive. What makes it low is because it has the lowest height (65.7inches vs 66.7 and 68.3 of Sportage and Sorento respectively). Handling-wise, CX-5 was quick and agile and has a very responsive steering feel, the Sportage was accurate and sure-footed, the Sorento was firm and planted. Depends on what you prefer but I wanted the feel of driving a smaller car and of the 3, the CX-5 felt the smallest. Space-wise, Sorento was king, with CX-5 coming next and the Sportage being the smallest. CX-5 was just low but headroom is sufficient for me and my father (I am 5'6", my father is 5'8"). Interior-wise, I liked the simple, intuitive but made with premium materials interior of the CX-5 vs the more modern but felt cheap-ish finish of the Sportage, the Sorento is the blandest. Fuel consumption - CX-5 loses easily because it is petrol but considering it does 9-10km/L in the city and 14-16km/L in the highway (personal data), it's not that bad since diesel engines can go as low as 7km/L in the city. Here's the last thing that made the deal for me - Mazda has 3 years or 30,000 kms free maintenance of labor and parts, whereas Kia has been known to be milkers with regards to maintenance in our area. As for reliability, I decided to gamble but for the past 2 years, I haven't heard a bad thing from Mazda CX-5 owners. So far I am happy with my ride and if you ask me if would I trade it for another model - yes, either a CX-5 AWD (Mine is 2.0L), an Audi Q3 or a BMW X5. :-)

    I did not try Forester because there was no dealership or service center in Iloilo. :-)

    Congrats on your purchase! Seems like more people are getting the CX-5 as its much more visible on the road ever since the change in Mazda management.

    Last week, I was pleasantly surprised to be in the same parking area in Bonifacio Global City with 3 other CX-5's , all of them 2.5L AWD variant.

    I was torn between the Forester XT and the CX-5 AWD before but CX-5 won because despite the lower power output (230 vs 184hp), it had more driver aids (like 8-point parking sensor vs none, lane departure warning, etc) and was priced almost 300k pesos with Youjin maintenance plan/discounts/insurance were all considered.
