    Bottom line: kondisyon ng katawan.
Come on, kapag M/T mas gising ang mga senses mo. Isipin mo kung nakatulog ka habang nasa 1st gear ka hehe, safer than driving an A/T.

    - You need to shift gears (so tinitingnan mo RPM mo hindi yung apak lang and forget the rest)
    - Nagtitimpla ka ng clutch (kung tu-tulog-tulog ka edi mamamatayan ka lang)
    - Gumagana both hands mo (one on the wheel, one on the gear)

You know A/T guys, kapag walang traffic, masarap mag-drive ng M/T. Kapag traffic naman alam niyo na hehe.

in the 90's almost half of the cars are matic....
now in the 2000's, every model have an a/t,
every large suv has an a/t even a big truck nowadays-
isuzu tractor head got an a/t 18speed, i've got one.
sorry na lang ang die hard m/t hindi na makapag drive........
    bye bye manual transmission......
geez.

Like sir Tidus said, M/T ay hindi mamamatay hehe. Kung mawawala ang M/T like you said, gusto kong makita yung mga bagong model ng Ferrari/Porsche na puro A/T hehe.

^ The context of this thread is on daily-driven road cars... not track competition. ;)

Well, someone was talking about the phasing-out of ALL manual transmissions.

Well, probably not phasing them out... not anytime soon, at least. They may eventually be available only to mid to high performance or exotic cars. As car manufacturers focus more on designing automobiles with ridiculously high fuel economy, the only way for the fuel systems to work to its full potential is to let the car's computer do the shifting. The latest models of hybrid cars only comes in A/T (or CVT).

If that's a sign of things to come, A/T might become the new mainstream in the Philippines in just a few years. At least for passenger cars. But no, M/T will still remain for a long time.

NO!!! I still want my M/T. Sometimes I like the feeling of man-machine combo and the rush of shifting gears... That's why some of my cars are A/T some are M/T so depende sa mood...

I really like how the CVT works. I hope they can improve reliability so it can become mainstream as opposed to the traditional A/T transmission.

Or it may even be too late to develop a new transmission to be coupled with the internal combustion engine.
