Hehehe.

Is that wrong? I don't find using SUVs as a status symbol any less wrong than people who can't drive a sports car fast.

And it's not only in the Philippines. Take a look at the Land Cruiser. What was designed as a rugged workhorse evolved into a luxury SUV (still with offroad capabilities) because that's what the market wanted.

Pickups have also followed the same route, and for these PPVs, the market responds positively to big SUVs with rugged frames but comfortable rides and plush interiors. Of course, PPV's won't be as comfy as a car-based crossover, but they've improved leaps and bounds.

Comparing AU to the PH is also quite unfair. That's a first-world country where people who want luxury can oftentimes afford a luxury SUV. In the Philippines, even a lowly Fortuner is already an expensive car for most, and Filipinos would want a do-it-all car since they can't really afford having different cars for different purposes.

And for that reason, PPVs are the best-selling vehicles in the country north of 1M because they're jacks of all trades. Not as luxurious as a Camry, not as rugged as a Hilux, not as spacious as a Hiace, not as quick as an 86, but a bit of all rolled into one.

Shall we agree with the rest of your statement except for the fact that I didn't say its wrong? I find it amusing pa nga bro. Its a fact but not prohibited. To each his own.

Anyway BTT, I don't see anything wrong with comparing Australian comparos with PHL comparos. As I've said, these are utility vehicles and there are people out there who use it as such. These products should be tested as such.
