Gurus, I already made up my mind and came up with only two options:
2008 Altis 1.6V
2010 Vios 1.5G
Please advise which is better, I know in terms of FC and maintenance cost Vios will definitely win and as for space and nice features it would be Altis, but which has higher re-sale value considering their year model, kindly advise sirs.

Altis :D Although I dont think the it's more spacious than the Vios as per ROOM per se, but I think it has better shaped seats making it more comfortable. This is coming from a Vios owner
But if you want a younger model, the Vios is another no brainer choice, better FC pa.

Thank you sir Basti08, from the looks of it sir mukhang mas malaki ang Altis by couple of inches or sa tingin lang talaga yun sir.

June 22nd, 2012 07:44 PM #77I've been in a pre-facelift Altis 1.8V. Ride is very comfortable. Interior's very spacious too. So I suppose its up to you then. The Altis would be a more luxurious and mature choice, and the Jazz a more youthful and sporty choice. The Jazz will also offer more useful space, especially in the cargo department, being the mini MPV that it is.

What do you prioritize? If it's a fun drive, get the Jazz. If you want a car with more "image" and is more comfortable, get the Altis.
I find the 1.6 engine in the pre-facelift Altis to be merely adequate. Hindi siya mabagal, pero hindi rin kabilisan. Just enough for puttering around in the city. Not much fun you can sap out of it if you go for spirited driving along mountain roads. It could still be pretty decent on the highway though, since getting to 100-140 kph isn't too difficult with this car, and it does it with a lot of poise.
The Jazz 1.5V, well, feels like a 1.5 when you're in the 1000-4500 rpm range. No torque, but enough for city driving. Floor the accelerator though, and that's when you realize why it's rated at 120 hp. Personally I don't like the fact that you have to rev it hard to get the power you want, but at least it delivers.
The Jazz's 5-AT is a lot more responsive than the Altis' 4-AT, and this is probably my biggest gripe with the Altis. Yes it shifts smoothly, but it's not eager to downshift when I want it to.
FC of the two should be similar, with a slight advantage to the Jazz. A 0.5-1 km/L difference in city driving is probably all that separates them.
The Jazz is technically more versatile by virtue of its hatchback body and flat-folding rear seats, but the Altis is no slouch either since its humongous trunk can fit 4 luggage bags in a jiffy. 60/40 split-fold rear seats mean you can stuff in long items every once in a while too.
Looks are subjective but I prefer the Altis' understated look over the Jazz' aggressive one. I like the Jazz's interior for being modern, but it's not as upscale as the Altis' (forgive the tacky woodgrain though).
One big gripe for me (at least with our Altis) is that it has no aux input. Could be a deal-breaker if you use an iPod but aren't willing to shell out another 15-20k for a replacement LCD head unit (wag na yung 1-DIN, di bagay).
What would I get? Tough call, not because they're similar, but because they're good cars in very different ways.Last edited by jut703; June 22nd, 2012 at 10:25 PM.

June 22nd, 2012 10:27 PM #79Hindi nga mabilis yung pre facelift Altis. The old Lovelife Corolla 1.6 gives similar power output, and its already described as a rather lifeless car.

Very good analogy and comparison sir Jut703 but what if I can get a 2009 Jazz 1.5 against 2008 altis 1.5V what would be the best choice considering there is a one year discrepancy?
Points to consider iwould be the maintanance cost and re-sale value sirs, would you still go for the Altis?
