You have two engine options with the J model - a 2.0L gas or a 2.8L diesel. The gas will be cheaper to maintain but the diesel is thriftier on the pump.

If AT is a must, I guess a 200k premium is reasonable enough for the size, comfort, and cargo space that the Innova offers against other MPVs which are based off small car platforms.

my relative has the older innova with gas engine and AT.
for him, hindi naman daw mabagal.
he doesn't drive aggressively.
he says he gets 8 km/li "pag hindi masyadong trapik"...

Most likely the same engine. I think it’s even the same engine used on older Altis 2.0L models.

I read somewhere that manufacturers are now including a physical gear for the first gear then shift to cvt on higher gears..

I think this is for the newer Toyota models...

Not sure if it's locally available.

Yes doc. Same 1TR engine but i think with a few tweaks. Yung unang innova if i remember correctly throttle cable pa. Yung ngayon drive by wire.

to the me-the-ordinary-driver,
it looks like an even match.
i'd want to try out the interior. one might be perceived to be more spacious and comfortable than the other. this is important, if the user is on the elephantine side.
