March 24th, 2021 02:05 PM #122Rather than that argument, I would instead just ask the TS, madalas ba kelangan umakyat ng matarik (bundok, burol) ang sasakyan? Yes, may turbo gas engines naman to claw back that performance din, but kung madalas nga talaga akyatan, then I think mas logical to opt for diesel.
But kung usually patag naman, I won't argue for diesel.

Back in 2012, we used a City 1.5L going up to Baguio with 4 people plus luggage. Wala naman problem going up and down Kennon Road.
A few years later, we used our Fiesta Ecoboost and I had a blast ripping thru Kennon Road going up. It was fun zipping thru the twists and turns with a small quick car.

March 25th, 2021 09:47 AM #128It's not that the petrol "can't". It is that a diesel engine has more torque available down low. That's why the question is situational. If madalas akyatan ang gamit ng kotse, I think diesel engine would be better for practicality.
Anecdotal Experience with Family. Innova 2.0 Gas MT and a Kia Carens AT convoy up to Baguio that started in QC. Full tank pareho at the start. Pareho full load with passengers and luggage. So with this base experience, kung madalang ka lang naman aakyat, kahit mag gas engine ka, okay lang naman. Pero if you do it frequently, iba usapan from a utility and practicality standpoint.
But again, anecdotal personal experience, so your mileage can definitely vary as well as your preference.

hehe it's just that your initial input was about performance, so we say the petrol "can". Practicality is a different perspective, as described by your experience. If the OP can live with the fuel expense, like we do with our petrol sedans, then it is not a deal breaker.
OT but also I feel like the Innova Gas 2.0 is a guzzler and underpowered at the same time. hehe yung avanza naman namin di ganyan kalakas sa gas kahit puno at mas mahina ang hatak.
