Am I ready to buy a car?

If currently, wala ka man lang nasesave na at least Php5K, eh mahihirapan ka talaga. Kahit sabihin mo pang magtitipid ka.

I am currently saving up for my Porsche. So, 1K a month, mga 800,000 years nalang.. ehehe!

Like the others I'd suggest you get a 2nd hand car for now. 2nd hand Revo or Adventure diesel would be nice. Gas consumption is similar to a 1.6L compact sedan while using diesel fuel which is cheaper than unleaded by around P10/L. Mechanical parts are very sturdy, and I have only recently started replacing them in our 2001 unit. Even so, parts are cheap and easy to acquire. Basic maintenance is dirt cheap as compared to modern cars. During my latest change-oil last week, I replaced the oil filter, air filter and 5 liters of Repsol 10W40 semi synthetic motor oil. All this for less than 2500 petot. I do this every 5tkms (air filter stays for much longer, until there is no more performance improvement when sprayed with an air compressor), which in our case is around once every 6 months.

I suggested these two over the Crosswind as they tend to be more car-like and are less likely to emit black smoke. Though the Crosswind does have significantly better gas mileage.

new baby? yes siguro. new/old car? yes siguro. new baby and new/old car? mebbe not.
why not get pen and paper and list down your monthly expenses... or better yet, see how much you have stashed in the bank and divide it by the number of months you've been working... that's your real monthly savings. can you keep on saving like that?

Nagdecide na lang kami na ibalik na lang sa investments namin yung pang downpayment sana namin sa car at mag continue na lang mag ipon para sa future ng baby namin. Mukang hindi pa naman ganun kalaki yung need namin na magkaroon ng sasakyan saka naisip namin na yung iba ngang family na may baby nagcocommute lang.

whenever i take the taxi, i ask myself why i have a car.. taxi is more convenient and cheaper than car. what with parking, fuel, taxes, etc.
the only reason i probably will recommend a car, is if you have difficulty getting a taxi from your place.

Tama.. I have a friend here in Cebu... mga early 60's may kaya sila... pero 1 lang car nila para sa wife and kids niya with driver pa.. siya ayaw niya mag kotse taxi lang... pag hahatid ko ayaw pa mag pa hatid... kaso sa manila hirap kumuha ng taxi and security mo din..

I would suggest to buy 2nd hand car... pag may dumating na opportunity... like kung binebenta ng friend mo tapos trusted mo naman...
