March 23rd, 2014 07:43 PM #981Hi!
I would like to seek for help/suggestions as I am planning on upgrading the stock audio of our XV.
I am reading this thread for a while now but I still have not heard the different audio setups live. =)
What I would like to establish is I think under SQ? Hehe. Guessing lang but I want that clarity and a very good soundstage.
Thinking of doing a Pioneer 2DIN (8850?)
For seps, would Focal PS165 do the job? or other brand/model suggestions. Read from the net about Hertz 165 but I think its hadr to find one.
Amp: No idea. =)
Subwoofer: Is this needed for the setup that I want?
Also, please suggest places where I can audition several setups so that I can differentiate them. Thanks!

Minimum price tag I can think for strict SQ will be around 40k ideally.
Head unit - 16k
Speakers - 12k
Subwoofer and box - ~6k
Wirings and misc - ~6k allowance
Although, I'd say expect to see your budget balloon up since wala pa kasamang labor and woodworks yan. For those who needs a professional tune, that's another price add-on
To be frank, in all of my years recommending stuff to people and consulting them... lahat sila lumalagpas sa original budget (except those with very fat wallets) when pursuing the true SQ route. Ideally, you want at least a budget of 60,000php for a safe bet although I pinch some stuff here and there. The most affordable system design I've probably conceptualized was around ~30,000php flat.
For your head unit, you'll be looking at secondhand Alpine CDA-9887. But since it's phased out na, a lot of people are going for the newer Pioneer 80PRS while some go for the combination of Alpine CDA-137 + H100 processor.
Hertz/Audison is originally distributed by SoundXperience in QC but has since then been passed to Adrian Manalaban of Musico Mobile Audio in Paranaque if my guess is correct. He can get you your Hertz/Audison products if need be.
A subwoofer will almost always be needed in a setup. The reason for this is because they're efficient in moving air.. and you need that to recreate bass. Hindi naman super necessity -- there are people who compete using no-subwoofers but it's not something I would advice people who rock out Zedd inside their car on a daily drive.
As for places.. Banawe has a lot of LnC setups around. For strict SQ, you'll have to look at shops who specialize in them and these are the big-name shops who make their living on doing upper-end installs. Since living at the North, closest is probably JC Car Audio in San Juan. In the East, Mickeys Autosound and Mach2Audio is in Pasig.
You can always PM me since I conduct auditions in Banawe. As long as you conform to my schedule, no problem naman since I'm always there ;)

Kung bayo lang just get a subwoofer, throw it in a box, get a amplifier, and wire it up. I'll allocate around a safe 10k for an entry-level setup for this. 5k for the sub and box and the other 5k for the amplifier and wirings.

At around 15,000php, you can easily throw in front speaker sets to the package. So yeah, pretty much your basic ICE setup.
1. Separate speakers in front
2. 4-channel amplifier. 2 channels for the speakers up front, 2 channels bridged for the subwoofer.
3. Subwoofer
Inclusive of the price should be wirings, subwoofer box, and installation. This is a "package" after all. Go consult with your suking installer so he can advice you on how to tackle your needs.
