August 19th, 2013 04:22 PM #62There isn't any color or dye in these products - they're just made so that there are more "polishing oils" (think Meguiar's M7) in the black wax, to help increase depth and provide some fillling, and more abrasives and cleaners in the white wax, to better remove embedded dirt.

August 19th, 2013 04:38 PM #63i am refering to 2 stage paints - clearcoat over base (color) coat. this product will not do any good to clearcoat.
with 2-stage paints, anything you do, you do to the clearcoat. the "paint" is really a very thin layer (basecoat).
the clear is the layer that gets scratched and gets swirl marks- NOT the paint. unless of course w're talking about older cars with no clear coats.
as for the appearance, certain sealants do make the paint darker.
this would work for older, single stage paints (multi-layers) and newer 2 stages paints as some sealant/wax combinations improve the reflection.
the light reflects differently and the colors "pop", especially with metallics.

Sorry. What I meant by paint was the whole package. Some waxes and sealants will make "your car" appear darker.
Waxes/sealants will not change the color of the pigment in your paint. It will filter(and enhance) the light(waves) that will be bouncing off the paint/clear that your eyes will receive.

August 20th, 2013 08:33 AM #66I love my various boutique waxes and sealants - BFWD is my favorite sealant, and I believe I'm the first person to have a pot of Dodo's Supernatural Hybrid in the Philippines, and perhaps of Zymol Glasur, and I have the signed, numbered (#4) jar of the first production run of Bouncer's 22, among two dozen or so waxes that I have; but I rate Meguiar's pretty highly for their polishes - their OTC Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish are very capable, M105 and M205 were the standard for the longest time (perhaps up to now), and they have been at the forefront of correction with products like the MF pads, D300, M101 and M100.
On the protection front, Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax is among the best spray waxes you can buy (OCW looks better and lasts longer, but it's not as readily available, or as inexpensive). Additionally, I've read a lot of very good reviews about Meguiar's Ultimate Wax on Autopia, from pretty experienced detailers, praising it's slickness, look and longevity - to the point that I'm seriously considering getting either the paste or the liquid. So it might be worth taking a second look at Meg's - they seem to have finally cracked the durability question which has impacted their previous LSPs.

Same sentiments.
Although I have my own fair share of boutique waxes (as with Sir Umi, Dodo Juice has also won me over), I also highly regard Meguiar's products. Domestically, the mark-up's still huge to justify international shipping, but they're still my go-to brand for compounds and polishes. My go-to polish is their M83 which is in the middle of the abrasion chart. More aggressive than SwirlX, but less abrasive than most compounds. For less serious swirls, there's M82.
As for Mothers, I'm less of an avid fan. Showtime and their Stage 3 wax is probably what I use the most.
I also don't frown upon Autoglym's HD Wax especially that it's widely distributed. As long as I'm not going to remove it from the paint which is a total pain in the ass, I'll go for it.
Because I tend to collect my waxes, I've long since stopped any additional purchasing. At the end, Collinite 845, KAIO - KSG, and Dodo's SNH is what's left in my shelf. More of a fan of durability over "looks" thanks to my white paint.

Durability-wise, yes. They last roughly the same.
SNH is special for me. It's not really the durability alone but more of the feeling of using a boutique wax. It's like eating a Ferrero Rocher over M&Ms.. if I were after durability alone, hell.. I won't touch Collinite. Mahal yan.. I'll probably be using Turtle Wax Hard Shell or something for the cheapness
Besides, SNH's beading is the bomb! Incredible beading.
