When do you guys/gals use masking tape? Which parts do you tape off?
When applying paste wax, how many applicator pads do you use up? I have 1 3 inch pad and i don't know if its enough.
When buffing off the wax, how many Ultra Plush pieces do you use up?

August 30th, 2010 12:45 AM #555Since you will be ordering from AG i would be recommending you the following products since i believe they are much more worth the products you are considering i would also be recommending some CG products since they are really great products but they're not on AG
For shampoo i would recommend
1. Megs Hyperwash its on sale at AG right now at 19$ its very very economical at a 400:1 dilution ratio
2. Optimum No Rinse Wash and Shine this is quite a bit more expensive for a shampoo but its great because its very glossy after you dry your car, its at 40$ from AG right now
3. Megs Ultimate Wash and Wax - you could really feel the paint become a little smooth here and it does give a slightly warmer look as compared to Optimum's glassy look, its slightly expensive because you have to use more with this shampoo like 2x the amount of regular shampoo concentrate and at 12$ for only 48oz its not really the cheapest but its still worth recommending
4. Chemical Guys Citrus wash and Gloss - this is great for maintaining your wax and sealant at the same time strong enough to remove road film which is unbelievable for a shampoo that strong and yet it still preserves your wax
5. Chemical Guys Bug + Tar Wash - this is great for removing really filthy contaminants off the paint, its really strong and efficient in cleaning the paint but the downside is you also lose your wax and sealant.
My best recommendation is Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Gloss but its not on AG, if you're looking to order everything from AG, then i would recommend Ultimate Wash and Wax and Optimum Wash and Shine, if you're after a really economical shampoo then the hyperwash is great, you can literally use just one capfull for a bucket.
For Pre-wax Cleaner
1. Lime Prime - this one is really expensive but its one of the best i've used, it really leaves a paint clear but its at 50$ per 500ml, i actually have one bottle but its so expensive i only use for details on euro or super cars
2. Pinnacle Paint Work Cleansing lotion - a cheaper products but performs just slightly below lime prime but hey if its being economical this is sort of in the middle
3. P21s Enhancing Paint Work Cleaner - Another great product again its somewhat at par with Pinnacle, its price maybe cheaper but its also smaller
Why do i recommend these things instead of the cheaper Mothers Step 1? its not because Mothers Step 1 doesn't perform quite well but its just that personally i only use pre-wax cleaners about twice to thrice a year so i really invest on something to properly prep the paint, its very important because if you're be layering on expensive sealants and waxes its best to know the paint is really clean for them to bond on to, and these brands have given me no problem with that, sometimes the products used in this step makes or breaks the durability of sealants and waxes.
To be continued, gotta rest for now, have a really high fever but i also can't sleep

August 30th, 2010 12:59 AM #557For Glaze i would recommend
1. Pinnacle XMT Carnauba Finishing Glaze - not the best but definitely a performer, PLUS!!! its on buy one take one right now on AG
2. Wolfgang Finishing Glaze - a little more expensive but one of the best glazes for those stages that you don't put on a sealant, i assume you won't be putting on a sealant because non was on your list, so this one is very recommended, gives a really wet shine
3. Meguiars #07 - cheap but also performs quite well, this one is a great value a real bang for the buck! Definitely better than Moms Step 2, but this is also harder to remove, the technique is to remove it while its wet.
For Quick Detailers i recommend
1. Optimum Gloss Enhancer and Instant Detailer - definitely on of the most reflective QD's i've used and its great for those dry season when you have lots of dusts, its also very economical since you can dilute it 1 part with 3 part distilled water, this is one of the main reasons why my BF opted to sell OPT products here, but you can get it there from AG i think its also on sale for the gallon but thats the gallon size though, the 32oz can already yield you 1 gallon of QD
2. FK 425 - one of the slickest QD's i've ever used, its a little more expensive but definitely outperforms some of the more expensive brands, around the same performance as OGE, the main difference lies in this brand having anti static properties to prevent dusts from clinging where as OGE uses Fluorocarbon same thing used to make teflon to repel dust.
3. Megs Last Touch - one of the most under rated QD's out there, this goes for around 19$ i think? compared to the two above it does not give you that remarkable difference on the paint, with this one however it gives you a warmer look as compared to the glassy first two i've mentioned.

Pag nag glass polish ako by machine tape off ko yung rubber trims at sides para hindi madamay. For applying wax 1 pad lang ginagamit ko for the entire car pag may nakita ka ng dumi sa applicator pad wash mo na kaagad para hindi maka scratch. Also kung multiple products dapat may dedicated pad ka for each product. Ganun din sa MF towels 1 towel for buffing off each product,
