March 16th, 2010 06:59 PM #3531*Hardinero: it is abrasive and its really not meant for weekly application, what i do is about every 6 months i polish my car using Megs 83 and the for those scratches that are deeper i spot treat it with ScratchX, the product is mainly used for spot treatments only.

March 16th, 2010 07:07 PM #3532*mau2485: you could do that, but be sure to get the right clear coat spray for the job, we did something similar to a busted bumper of our friend and it worked great, its like you slapped on some new clear coat and we just used a mild polish to smoothen it out, but in another instance we used the same spray on a different car and it actually ate the paint... so i guess it also depends on the paint type, but this sad incident has only happened to use once.

March 16th, 2010 11:53 PM #3535*thx777: haha yeah, sometimes we even got up to 10pm to meet. He can extend at most up to 1 hour if you're a regular customer. As for the Microtex plush, its really good, i compared them to foreign brands and its just as good as those that are more expensive.

March 17th, 2010 12:18 AM #3536*jmpet626: haha i have a gallon of it in our other house, im a little scared about using it since it constantly cuts, where as with diminishing abrasives you spend the abrasives and at some point you already loose cut, this way for me you end up with a more uniform results, so its practice again for me with my test panel. You could try to use M80 Speed Glaze, its pretty much like 205 and for me its a little safer, what im trying to get my hands on is the new and reformulated Menzerna po85rd and Optimum Finish.

March 18th, 2010 10:27 AM #3537Grrrr!!!
I just did a #83->NSC->#26 last weekend.
Yesterday (wednesday) morning, I woke up to see this:
That stray cat that kept on attacking my car struck again!
It tried to climb up the hood of my '04 City..... Nahirapan because of the slick surface siguro. The picture above is what I got after lightly washing the hood. Light swirls/scratches were probably caused when the cat tried to sleep on the hood but since the hood is slanted, nag slide down siya. Those light swirls I can take. Pero nakaka inis yung major scratches na yon which I can feel with my fingernails.
Tinatamad na ako mag re-polish kasi I'm sure babalik yung pesteng pusang yon. Mauubos pintura ko if I keep at it.
For now, I slathered the hood with NSC. It managed to do a good job in hiding those swirls but the scratch is still there.

March 18th, 2010 01:39 PM #3538*ess: SHOOT! Ouch! i've gone through that problem once, and thats the same problem that forced me to have my Revo repainted and have ceramiclear put on. When it got back even if the cats climb up i don't see any scratches anymore, but my problem now are the cars without the ceramiclears. I borrowed by Bf's chowchow and let it stay for a few nights thinking that its better to have my rims stained because dog pees can really stain rims than have the paints scratched, thankfully the chowchow doesn't pee sideways, it pee's like a female dog sitting down so no problems with the rims and two weeks down i brought it back and since then i still don't get cat problems. You could try putting a car cover so when the cat goes up it doesn't scratch the paint.

March 18th, 2010 03:52 PM #3539Tempting... when the time comes that I need to get a new paintjob (assuming my car is still running.. hehehe), I'll consider that.
Unfortunately, that solution won't work. I used to use a car cover. But when the cat started sleeping on the cover, it also "marked" its territory by wiping it's muta on the cover. Later on, it started sharpening its claws on the cover causing it to fray.
Kainis talaga walang ligtas. I thought summer time would give my car some respite from those cats dahil mainit. My cat problem usually only starts during the rainy season where they clamber up on the hood to keep warm.
I'm thinking of making some kind of plywood wall that I can use to cover the front fenders and hood, and another one to cover the rear fenders and trunk para hindi makatalon yung pusa papunta sa car.
