November 18th, 2009 03:13 PM #3002Hahhaha... That's what I think too.
Too bad the MSN Group site is no longer available. I recall that topic (peanut butter) having a very threaded discussion.
Yep, I do recall something from that MSN Group forum about the oils in the peanut butter as having a cleansing effect on plastic moldings. Since my car (city'04) doesn't have any moldings that can accidentally be waxed, I never had the need to try it out.
If it doesn't work, just take a slice of bread and wipe out the peanut butter from the moldings... meryenda! :D

December 8th, 2009 02:40 AM #3009*rogie: Which QD did you buy from Megs? As far as i know, only Final Inspection QD is safe to use on newly painted cars. Well thats what they told me when i asked about the difference between Last Touch and Final Inspection. As for the consumer line QD's if im not mistaken they also contain small amounts of waxes, this is very much prevalent in the Ultimate Quik Detailer that i've tried. Now someone from Simex/Megs Phil also told me that its actually not that bad to use QD on fresh paint since the amount of wax is so small that it is still breathable for the paint, but better be on the safe side and hold on using QD for a few more months.
QD is not meant to be a wax substitute, its just a mild cleaner with some lubricants and in some famous brands contain nourishing oils that make the finish feel slick. Spray wax applied once a week at the very most could be considered as a wax substitute. If you're after a wax substitute after a carwash, and if you're a megs fan, try the Ultimate Quik Wax, it worked wonders for me plus its generally cheaper that the UQD.
Now if you're gonna use it for your freshly painted car, then i would suggest you just go over to Simex in kamias and buy a Final Inspection and Speed Glaze for your car, they are both body shop safe. The people there also told me the speed glaze also adds some level of protection from the elements.

December 8th, 2009 02:46 AM #3010*j3ffry: I've tried that already, and im not impressed. Generally it does the main job of most step 1's but Moms and Megs Step 1 are better. Its a actually quite abrasive and it does a decent job of cleaning the paint, one thing to note though is that unlike Moms and Megs this Step 1 if a lot more unforgiving.
