Painted black hoods are sometimes used to minimize the glare from the sun to the driver in car racing like touring cars, etc.

Others have carbon fiber hoods and prefer not to paint over the carbon fiber.

carbon look?! well, ther diff. bet. a true carbon hood and a painted ones besides look would be... if you knock it and its lata. Ha ha! Pero true carbon reduces the weight of the car, useful for tuners.

And to dude Joeverzosa, not all 100hp cars w/ black hood car5bon or not are ricers... a 100hp Suzuki Cappuccino can smoke tuned compacts w/ higher hps. ;)

I have a black hood on my car but it's not paint or carbon fiber, it's pick up truck bedliner. I got tired of the stone chips on my hood from driving on the freeway and having a hood rougher than sandpaper, so I used bedliner and now I don't have problems with paint chips. People that see it think it's weird but it's functional so I really don't care about their opinion.

Yep, yung true carbon fibers, para lightweight talaga, but the others, for aesthetic purposes lang naman, which is not bad, kasi parang ang ganda nga naman tingnan. Merong mga printed vinyl stickers, you can use any pattern you want, at meron din namang vinyl stickers na ready to install na (with the carbon fiber look), as shown here:

Ok ang black as long as it's functional and mostly kung yan yung stock color ng auto mo. But I've seen posers na naka "carbon fiber" hood daw sila but when you take a closer look at it..... "carbon fiber" nga... sticker!

Others just paint it black. Ewan ko kung baket gusto nila yun since the color black absorbs more heat than any other color and it takes a long time for it to dissipate. Yung black CR-V 2.4L ko nga dito eh ang init pag naiwanan mo lang ng 10 mins. sa labas and it takes a hellish long time for the interior to cool down and the cool of the A/C to kick in.
