A well-known local assembler/fabricator in Cavite made a replica of this. The installed a 12valve gasoline (2E) engine from a corolla xl.
Of course the "talyer or local version" is a panget version
The owner of the talyer loves volkswagen cars.
The owner of loves volkwagen vehicles.

Hi JP, are you sure they tried to make a poor imitation of the Ghia?... AFAIK - nobody makes or chooses a lower class marque to be a replica subject. Since mura lang naman ang Karmann Ghia - compared to real marques if in bad shape or chopsuey condition. Hindi kaya - kinonvert lang nila yung engine into a toyota?... Kasi - this is the common mistake people make with Old Ghias... I have seen some examples running with Toyota engines... It completely destroyed - the value of the car. They should have kept the original... mura pa rin naman ang piyesa ng Volks.
Regarding Cobra Replicas... Nene Syquia builds them in Pasig. Exports them to California also... His shop is probably one of the best shops I've seen... Clean as you go ang motto nila... not too many workers... but Nene said - this is not a real business but more of a hobby.
I have seen Lotus Super 7's, MG's, 550 Spyders, and many more nice examples there. World Class yung work nila dun.
I almost placed an order for one 550 spyder in 2000... kaso, the waiting period discouraged me. I was in a hurry so I bought other project cars where I can put my hands on immediately that time.
But if I were patient... palagay ko, di rin ako mag sisisi... Maganda talaga ang gawa nila dun. and 1 and half year maybe more - waiting period... while you pay monthly (that time - he was asking around P800,000 for a 550 spyder) - it's probably worth it.

Yes, still remember that car. It was sold to a Bacoor, Cavite buyer. The fabricator used to be a well-known master fabricator in Imus. Wala na ata dun sa kanila. Moved to the US na ata.
Last edited by jpdm; October 21st, 2009 at 09:52 AM.

south africa ang market nila????
AFAIK - south Africa is/was a Dutch colony... gano kadali mag import dun ng high quality European made Benz utility vehicles or even Rovers... baka marginal lang yung market nila.
Anyway... sayang yung kumpletong molde binili namin ng kaibigan ko kay Dino... PORSCHE "ENZO" 911... di ko na alam kung saan napunta.
