A/C - To clean or not to clean

clean it. kahit malamig pa yan you'll never know. baka di mo napansin compared before na di na ganun kalamig.

Ganyan na experience ko nung nagpalinis ako mas malamig yung AC ngayon.

Btw this is what happens if you dont have your Evaporator cleaned once in a while (2 yrs na yung sa akin naging ganyan na pala!

palinis mo sa casa kung bago pa auto mo. kung may filter lang sana yung car aircon tulad ng room a/c, hindi na kailangan ipa-service yearly ang aircon.

mga backyard a/c mechanics kasi walang quality control, kaya minsan pangit ang service. kaya nga lang napakamahal sa casa magpagawa. mga 5-6 times more expensive. haba pa pila.

rule of thumb ko sa casa pag bago pa ang kotse, neighborhood backyard a/c mech kung mga 5 yrs na ang auto. kahit pabalik-balik, sa backyard a/c, malapit lang at maigsi ang pila. di tulad sa casa, kakainin ang buong araw mo. sa backyard, hatid mo lang, uwi, nood tv, balik after 3 hours, tapos barya lang ang bayad.

ingat na lang po sa palinis ng a/c.
dapat talaga dun lang sa talagang marunong.

yung sa car ko kasi, noong simulang nagpalinis ako, nasira ang compressor ko (umugong na). costs me P16,000 for a brand new sanden TRS compressor. sabi ng sanden technicians, dapat palit dryer kapag nagpalinis. ewan ko rin? hindi ko na ipinagalaw ito since napalitan ng bagong compressor, so far malamig pa rin naman.

magastos pag yearly ang evaporator cleaning. mine has dual aircon so mas marami ang kinakargang freon (r134-a). i plan to do general cleaning every two years na lang as the car interior is not really exposed too much sa dumi.

Agree, clean it- what model is the car? If dirt builds up on the evaporator, this may lead to rust then pin holes on the evap which means replacing it. If you don't have any cooling problems, then they may just clean the evap and reuse the drier and expansion valve.
No need to replace the compressor oil if you never leaked freon- a good shop should take a pressure reading first before disassembly.

I agree. When my car's cooling system stopped, that was the only I had it checked. Yung pala, yung (correct me if I am wrong), evaporator puro putik na pwede nang tamnan ng gulay! Grabe sa dumi!

I went to Kool King along Pasong Tamo for servicing. Good service! May libreng pancit pa while waiting. Nagkataon lang the staff was about to have her lunch. Sinali na rin ako.

i had my car for 10 years and only cleaned it twice. if you see that it's not that cold anymore, have it cleaned. most likely its just dirty or need more freon. but, my xgf strada's aircon broke, her car is only 4 years old...she spent P9k sa banawe for repairs. so..it's also just luck if the aircon system in your car will last for a long time.

kenz::: You could start saving up the cash you intend to use to clean your ac system, by that time may pambili ka na rin ng bagong evaporator.
