Words by Christopher Kho
While engineers are still busy deliberating on the real world savings of hybrids, the conservative Swedes went ahead and jumped on the diesel bandwagon by adding a diesel alternative to their growing S60 line-up. With a promise of fuel efficiency figures as high as 22 km/L, the new S60 D3 Turbodiesel could just be the perfect fuel-saving solution for eco-conscious citizens, and it’s now available here through Volvo Philippines' showrooms.
Under the hood is a 2.0L five-cylinder Turbodiesel powerplant that produces 163 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, coupled to a six-speed geartronic transmission - more than enough grunt to let it keep up with its petrol-powered counterparts. And the best part is, it's at least 20% more fuel efficient than the already-frugal 1.6L T4.

Wow, when did this happen?
Wonder if it's the same five-cylinder engine family as found in the new Ranger? And I wonder if that will make it into the next Focus?
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
