i was also asking our contact in PGA if its possible to bring in the Skoda brand in, pero, yeh, there is no brand recognition here. Maliit market ng VW dito at mas maliit ang Lambo but there will be potential buyers for sure.

While your doing that, tell them to also add SEAT

Para all four (or five??) brands of the "Volkswagen Auto Group" will be present here in the country: Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda and Lamborghini (?!?!?!?)

yeh, i like those seat alteas, toledos. The VW Polo here was also the Seat Cordoba.

Some may not agree with me but I actually like the exterior design of the Seat Leon.

I want to see the Skoda Octavia RS here (kahit with diplomatic plates). Too bad, very few Filipinos know about the Seat and Skoda.

Yes, ok sana yun and the more choices, the merrier.

However, practically speaking, aside from Audi, I think only VW brand has a small chance to succeed in the niche segment of our market. But for sure, VWs will be much more expensive than typical Japanese cars.

So my feeling is, although VW has upscale models (ganda ng Tuareg n sarap i drive yung diesel nya!), it doesnt have the luxury image of say BMW or Merc, so it might be just like another niche European brand like Peugeot here.

VW isn't really a luxury brand, one of the main reasons they are expensive is because they are all CBU from Europe or Mexico.
recently in the US VW lowered their prices because they were getting too expensive.

In the RP(ASEAN) to keep prices low most Japanese vehicles sold here are made in Thaialnd or Taiwan.
The only logical thing VW can do to keep prices low in the RP is to source their mainstream models from China.
Auto Prominence Corp. tried it once with the Passat, but for some stupid reason, the prices were almost the same as the Euro made Passat it replaced.

The new Sagitar(all-new Jetta) for example looks like a good choice for the RP market.

here's the FAW VW Sagitar thread: FAW VW Sagitar

Imagine an all-new VW Jetta 1.6 for under P1M... the only real problem preventing VW from growing in the RP is Auto Prominence Corp.

I think mahal parin ang Chinese made VW's at lalo't nalaman na made in China eh baka mawalan pa nang market.APC is not really serious in selling VW's here mas gusto pa nilang magbenta ng Touareg kaysa sa mga low end.I think medyo ingat ang PGA Cars sa pag acquire ng brands ha anyway mahirap din mgabenta ha...

APC is more interested in increasing the mark up on their car's prices...
The Chinese made VW Passat APC sold here was almost as expensive as the German Passat it replaced.
For some reason, GM Philippines was able match the chinese prices of the Shanghai GM built Chevy Lumina 2.5 and Chevy Venture 3.0.
Its a mystery why APC can't do this.
APC obviously can't blame the euro on this.

Whats nice about the high end VW models like the Touareg? APC can sell them at outrageous prices... they can always blame the euro.

Personally, I doubt Seat or Skoda will stand a chance here cuz kahit competitively priced since unknown brands sila dito. I mean, pwede na nga yung Peugeot 206 and 307 prices naten but still flop pa ren sya. My guess is that the variants sold here were very bare and since premium market ang target, dapat medyo premium ren yung features para kagatin ng public.

VW has a history here so I think they have a better chance to be a strong niche player. Although not a full premium brand, "image" is higher than Japanese cuz its European and they have nice upscale models (like the Golf and Tuareg).
