December 8th, 2023 12:49 AM #1Tsikot.com is considering adding peer to peer car rental or car parking,
Car owners would be able to list their car up for rental, Tsikot.com would handle car insurance and take payment by credit card.
This would be from a day to a few weeks in length.
We observed there are no services that exist with this model currently in the Phillipines.
Also, we believe this model can also to applied to parking spaces in congested cities.
We have heard that in some parts of the Phillipines, the governement won't let you buy a car if you can't prove you have a space to park it.
This model would allow people who have cars and parking spots to monetise them easily without worrying about insurance and payment.
Please let us know your feedback or observations.

I think the parking idea is terrific. For one, while we do see some vacant spots ideal for parking within our neighborhood we are hesitant to look for the owner and ask. This also goes the other way around, say one has a good enough space for 1 car but do not want the hassle of physically posting and explaining the price and terms to a prospect. This is AirPNG, Park N Go! [emoji13]
Now the question is, will owners be willing to pay to park or will they be more comfortable parking freely on the street in front of their house?

December 8th, 2023 11:35 AM #3During my short stay in Japan, i've tried a car rental(Times) which also owns several parking lots all over the place. Parking spaces there are self service(no attendant), all drivers i encountered are polite, public transport infra are well developed that they charge so much for fuel, ETC, traffic violations, illegal parking to encourage more on walking & using public commute. Given the honest culture there compared to the corrupt culture & poor infrastructure in pH, i guess it would be a big challenge operating such biz concept unless you charge a hefty premium for the service and insurance.

December 12th, 2023 02:24 PM #5About Peer to Peer Car Rental, this might need LTO approval.
Cars might be flagged as colorum when apprehended by LTO operation.
VANs were usually being stopped during this operation and will ask passengers if they are commuting or not.
Car Parking is a good idea, but I think there was an App/Service that already offered this.
But I am not sure if they were successful in offering the service nationwide.
You might need a system like what Waze does that allows users to mark the parking spot.
If this data is available for free, then that would be much better.

P2P car rental, I can see this becoming commercialized. I'm pretty sure that some enterprising people would start buying a fleet of cars to be rented out. Then car rental companies would complain, the government would step in, and all hell breaks loose.
I know that services like [then] Uber and Grab Car started off as a personal car owner offering taxi-like services. But then, some people started buying fleets of cars, hired drivers, caused a stir with the taxi operators, and became what we know of them now.
