We are planning to go to Singapore this Christmas and we just thought about getting a rental car. The rates seem quite fair, about 3.5k peso a day to rent a Vios, a little more for an Altis. It seems a good idea because we can use our time better and taxis are so expensive
Who has previously tried to rent a car in singapore?
How was the experience, are there any extra fees like parking and etc?

Parking and tolls (ERP) are going to squeeze much of your money there. If you plan your trip right, trains and buses are the way to go. Taxis are good if you are 4 in your group.

if you have special needs like if you have a baby, old people or PWD
to ferry around - pwede naman taxi. di naman aabot ng $30 yung isang
byahe mo for the regular cabs, unless na early morning (with surcharge yun).
but then - if you still want to drive:
yes - parking. lahat ng "convenient" parking areas me bayad.
hanap ka ng libre - either puno na yun, malayo sa pupuntahan
mong building or me babayaran kang fine pag soli mo ng oto.
- toll fees (ERP)
saka RHD dito - baka malito ka rin.

I find it more convenient to take the train or taxi while in SG.
Also it would be wise to have the phone number to a couple of cab companies if you plan to go to certain areas not normally serviced by taxi cabs or it is late at night. This way, you can request for a pickup at your location. I once had a late night out with a friend of mine who works in SG. She just called for a taxi pickup to our location because no cabs normally pass through the area.
