Sometimes you see a lot of Filipinos in an area because they are here for a week assignment/training.

Our office alone usually sends IT and Purchasing guys here for meeting etc... (naiinis kasi mga bossing sa Manila traffic kaya they find it better to send 5-10 guys here for meetings)

Officially (without the temp staff) 5 lang kaming Pinoy dito sa office... sa ibang floors, 2-3 lang (based on quick conversations sa lift)

10 years ago, madami kang makikitang Pinoy sa F&B and retail, ngayon halos wala na din.

Pinoys vs other Nationalities... Honestly, mas masipag tayo... but bosses cannot see that... Pag dating sa reports, presentations and meetings, makikita mo na iba confidence ng Indians and Chinese... Siguro we're just not wired enough to BS our way out of a situation.

    Point taken, dr d...

Read in a forum somewhere that some locals do not like pinoys because we take jobs that are supposedly theirs. Reason behind their revised policies that really makes it difficult for foreigners.

My sister had to go home two years ago (when she was pregnant) because of this new dependent pass requirement wherein one of the parent must have an income of at least 5k sgd a month. Hindi pwede i combine ang salary ng both parents, at least one of the parent must be earning this much.

Plus there is this scenario wherein a family with two kids. Father, mother & 1st kid are all PR’s. But the youngest kid is under long term visit pass or dependent pass. The family must have applied this kid as a PR at least 8 times but to no avail. What did they do? Ayun nasa Australia na sila ngayon. I personally know 3 filipino families who experienced this, gave up and migrated to Australia.

Bottom line, paliit na ng paliit ang mundo ng pinoy sa SG.

IMO, every country's goal is to get a professional/expat who can train the locals...

E.g. Nung bago yung mga Casino (MBS and RWS) ang dami nilang kinuha na Casino dealers from PH... Ngayon, either locals from China na.

So yes, naghihigpit sila, but if you have a good resume/background wala naman magiging issue.

Have you seen our Immigration requirements to hire a foreigner?

Kaso di ba ASEAN is supposed to be opening up their job markets? All ASEAN member countries will allow companies (with some exceptions) to hire any quslified person from an ASEAN member country. I remember yan ang isa sa mga rason bakit tayo nag-K to 12, to make our educational system equivalent to other member states.

    Pinas...

It's very hard to assign a foreigner sa Pinas... Not unless your office is a "Regional HQ"

6k na ngayon to get a dependent pass... and you are right paliit na ng paliit mundo ng pinoy sa SG. sometimes even meron mag hire sayo na company pero pag inaaply nila for work pass ni rereject ng MOM ang balita mataas daw quota and requirement pag pinoy ang applicant ng work pass compare sa ibang lahi. dami na din pinoy sa SG na either nag migrate na sa AU, NZ or Mid east or balik nalang sa Pinas. kahit sa f&b kumokonti nalang din mga pinoy.
