Good day mga Tsikoteers!
I'm a newbie in terms of A/T cars. I recently bought a 2nd hand Mitsubishi Space Wagon for my wife. Here's my questions:
1. how many kilometers must it run before changing the ATF?
2. how many liters of ATF must I instill?
3. what kind of ATF must I use?
The owner's manual is not with the car when we got it. And I'm a kind of DYI driver so please bear with me.
T I A !

April 15th, 2013 12:06 AM #2Your best bet would be the manual. Hanap ka sa net or sa kaibigan mo na may manual or punta ka sa casa at itanong.
Normally, every 40k ang change ng transmission fluid. Others change it at 30k interval.
You could indicate the model of your car para matulungan ka pa ng kapwa tao dito.

April 15th, 2013 02:18 AM #4Better flush it once, since you do not know if it was completely flushed eversince. Flushing is draining the entire 7liters of atf thru the oil cooler.
Theres a lot of youtube information about complete flushing Or you look for dialysis service in banawe.
Ive had a 2nd hand corolla with an unknown history and had transmission problems after a year. Tried the usual change fluid with no result. Complete Flushing fixed all those problem.

Maselan yung AT ng Galant model na yan. But in the end, Mag Mario hasnt encountered any AT problems after he adapted that practice it seems. I'd recommend also changing more often as the vehicle is already aged; do first a complete system flush through ATF dialysis (meron sa Exalta along N. Roxas in Banawe) then every 20,000kms should be okay.

1999 model yung Space Wagon namin sir. . . 30k - 40k would be fine considering the road ang traffic conditons in our country.
Thanks!

Yup! Mang Mario is a maintenance guru. I like talking to him 'coz you can get a lot of maintenance tips from him . . . mas madalas nga lang ang biro. He he. Anyway, did you asked him if change filter din siya everytime he drains his ATF? ATF is not that expensive pero additional 500+ din if kasama yung filter sa papalitan.

IMO, For peace of mind, mag-avail ka nalang ng matic tranny dialysis kahit once, atleast after that, malinis na malinis na tranny mo and alam mo na maintenance history from there.
kahit pa overnight i-drain, i think meron at meron ding latak na natitira yan, thats the purpose of the dialysis, alisin yung mga latak na hindi basta basta natatanggal ng regular draining.
