Tuberculosis (TB) is a life-threatening infection that primarily affects your lungs. Every year, tuberculosis kills nearly 2 million people worldwide. The infection is common — about one-third of the human population is infected with TB, with one new infection occurring every second.
Tuberculosis has plagued human beings for millennia. Signs of tubercular damage have been found in Egyptian mummies and in bones dating back at least 5,000 years. Today, despite advances in treatment, TB is a global pandemic, fueled by the spread of HIV/AIDS, poverty, a lack of health services and the emergence of drug-resistant strains of the bacterium that causes the disease.
Tuberculosis spreads through airborne droplets when a person with the infection coughs, talks or sneezes. In general, you need prolonged exposure to an infected person before becoming infected yourself. Even then, you may not develop symptoms of the disease. Or, symptoms may not show up until many years later.
Left untreated, tuberculosis can be fatal. With proper care, however, most cases of tuberculosis can be treated, even those resistant to the drugs commonly used against the disease.

Signs and symptoms
Although your body may harbor the TB bacteria, your immune system often can prevent you from becoming sick. For that reason, doctors make a distinction between:
• TB infection. This condition, sometimes called latent TB, causes no symptoms and isn't contagious.
• Active TB. This condition makes you sick and can spread to others. However, the infection may be asymptomatic for years, even though it's active and causing damage.
Your immune system begins to attack TB bacteria two to eight weeks after you're infected. Sometimes the bacteria die, and the infection clears completely. In other cases, the bacteria remain in your body in an inactive state and cause no tuberculosis symptoms. In still other cases, you may develop active TB.
TB mainly affects your lungs (pulmonary tuberculosis), and coughing is often the only indication of infection initially. Signs and symptoms of active pulmonary TB include:
• A cough lasting three or more weeks that may produce discolored or bloody sputum
• Unintended weight loss
• Fatigue
• Slight fever
• Night sweats
• Chills
• Loss of appetite
• Pain with breathing or coughing (pleurisy)
Tuberculosis also can target almost any part of your body, including your joints, bones, urinary tract, central nervous system, muscles, bone marrow and lymphatic system.
When TB occurs outside your lungs, signs and symptoms vary, depending on the organs involved. For example, tuberculosis of the spine may result in back pain, and tuberculosis that affects your kidneys might cause blood in your urine. Tuberculosis can also spread through your entire body, simultaneously attacking many organ systems

sorry to burst your bubble, but ive browsed all of your posts and majority of the threads started by you are cut and paste articles from other websites...well if you have nothing good to say might as well just lurk and read topics started by other members rather than browsing and posting unsignificant information.

such as the other topics you have posted about drifting and how to write BLAH BLAH... stop acting intellectual coz you arent, nor are you encouraging a good discussion

all you do is cut and paste then duplicate....

wtf $%# our threads here would all be junk if other tsikot members would post the same way as you do.

have a nice day

FYI its not that im not interested on the topic or what so ever its just that i find it a bit odd that you google stuff and then post it here on tsikot.

anyway before saying that the topic doesnt interest me my line of work may totally be unrelated to the medical field but do you know what degree i took up and finished way back in college?
as to say that i dunno **** or not ineterested on medical topics

i managed to have belted a double degree BSMT/ Medicine at two different known medical schools here in the Philippines
do i have to email you my credentials and diploma perhaps?

btw we are going off topic if you want you can contact me via Private message
have a nice day...

its better to post topics that promotes lively discussion, personal views or queries rather than being a searh engine that randomly selects topics...

peace

Are you up to Diabetes mellitus and diabetes insipidus?...Diabetes mellitus is the abnormal insulin production, and insipidus is the problem with the antidiuretic hormone w/c is stored and released by the pituitary gland...problem sa insipidus is wala ka antidiuretic so nangyayari napopolyuria(w/c ihi ka nang ihi) and polydypsia(w/c is lagi ka nauuhaw)compensatory mechanism nang body un pra mabalance fluid mo sa body.management dito is meds like vasopressin(ADH din kasi is vasopressin)it could be administered as nasal spray or tablets.. Bout naman Diabetes mellitus na common disease narin d2 pinas, abnormal insulin production or secretion sa pancreas, problem..in normal person kasi, once ngsalivate ka sa foods and then kumain, after that magrelease na pancreas insulin para manormalize glucose level sa body natin...in person na may DM,hindi sufficient ung production of insulin(depends also kung ano type DM nya, mostly type II)kya once kumain sila ngha hyperglycemia sila kasi wala ngnonormalize glucose level nila kasi wala d sufficient insulin secrete ni pancreas or wala tlga...

Well mostly mangement and control palang napeperfect nila sa DM,Cguro pag naperfect nila 100% pancreas transplantation(wala pa ata d2 pinas )na wala rejection or problem, then that would be the perfect cure...as of now, management muna pa inject2 insulin and meds(for insulin dependent DM)..and meds for non insulin dependent...I suggest U should see an internist(internal medicine)for more info...pra maagapan mga complications ng DM Agad. Thanks>>>
