hello my fellow tsikot members, just want a survey on the topic "Why do we need to register annually our motor vehicle?"

please post your insights/ideas as to why without looking at any references like internet, google, siri, etc...

just want to know what comes to your mind on this topic, only applicable within the Philippines okay!

i think of it (IDEALLY) as your car's annual physical check, kung fit to work pa ba (roadworthy). pansin mo kasama yung emission test and inspect dapat buong vehicle like lights etc., for "roadworthiness". second thing comes to mind is "updating" their database (iba na ba owner?) nagpalit ba ng engine, carnap ba etc. lastly, para may regular income din government e.g. bentahan ka ng invisible plate #, ewd (if wala ka pa) hehehe

This is also the only way for the government to impose road tax. We have to admit that even though our roads are not perfect, these are still roads, bridges, traffic lights and other infrastructure that needs to be built and maintained, and this tax is levied upon all registered motorized vehicles.

Without it, we'd all be driving on unpaved, dirt roads.

Just to add to what someone posted earlier about older vehicles.....unang una jan ang mga PUJs, PUVs and heavy trucks which are 10 years or older. Why can't government impose higher taxes on those? Pucha, yung mga ginagawang negosyo at kalakalan ang mga kalye at lansangan, sila naman ang dapat sumalo ng mas mataas na road users' tax.

And they are often a danger to other vehicles . It's always jeepneys that I see driving at night without headlights! And a lot of them also run with extremely worn out tires. Sobrang kinis wala na ngang treads.

since you are saying na the first thing that came into my mind...
my answer, is "we do not own the roads. they belong to the government. since we are using it, then we have to pay."

and keso lang, is we pay for it, pero hindi na maintain ng maayos.
