LTO now wants vintage cars to be used only on weekends and holidays | Top Gear Philippines
LTO now wants to actively regulate the ownership and the use of a vintage car, which the notice defined as "a motor vehicle manufactured at least 40 years prior to the current year, or with year model earlier than 1975According to the new Administrative Order, a registered vintage vehicle may now be used "on the roads only during Saturdays, Sundays and holidays." In other words, a vintage car owner may now only drive his prized possession on weekends and on holidays.
Meanwhile, a vintage vehicle for recording "shall be allowed to operate to and from events such as participation in vintage car club activities, exhibits, tours, parades and similar events provided that such operation is with a valid permit issued by the LTO."
IMO, this is what we get when guys running the LTO doesn't know things about cars...
LTO should phase out OLD PUVs...
And inspect OLD private vehicles...
Since phasing out of old jeeps/buses are almost impossible, maybe they can create a rule where a PUV with a 40 year old engine cannot be registered until upgraded! (ehem Isuzu C240 and older will have to go, and in a couple of years, the 4BA1)

But the "rule" allows traffic enforcers to just issue tickets to vintage cars on the streets...
LTO should not focus on vintage cars... They normally just use the roads for 2-3 hours per day...
OLD jeeps/buses use the road for the entire day...
Sad part with our PUV rules us that a change in chassis will mean a new vehicle even if the engine is more than 30 years old!
