Re: Welcome to all owners of TOYOTA FORTUNER...
Kakambal na talaga ng Fortuner ang Dealership woes. You cannot discuss the Fortuner without the dealership woes creeping into the discussion from time to time. The only way to stop this cycle is to get DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) involved on this issue or complain to a senator (perhaps Miriam Defensor-Santiago) para magkameron ng Senate hearing (in aid of legislation) about this malpractice.

Yup! The risk for rollover of the Fortuner is much higher than cars or other vehicles with comparably lower centers of gravity. This is typical for most midsized to large SUVs. That is why if you're used to a car, you should adjust your driving habits when handling an SUV - no high speed turns or cornering...

Grabe, two weeks na wala pang plate yung Fortuner namin! T_T How 'bout u guys, how long did you wait for your plate?
Re: Welcome to all owners of TOYOTA FORTUNER...

I think if ever TMPC resorts to transfer pricing schemes, they will favor the Philippines because of our ad valorem excise taxation. Thailand on the other hand has a system similar to our previous engine displacement based taxation. I heard that some of these imported cars are selling at retail prices at around 200 % of their landed cost (which is the basis of the excise tax).

If ever that TMPC indeed earned over P2.6B, do you even think they'd cheat on their taxes? All vehicle sales are traceable and all transactions have receipts, however unscrupulous the dealerships' tactics may be.
*Apexy: Hoax? You must be some kinda expert in uncovering hoaxes... Go and call CAMPI (Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc.). I've met their general secretary. They will gladly oblige in giving you the exact vehicle sales figures of Toyota, as all vehicle sales figures (regardless of manufacturer) are considered public information.

Yes. My uncle got his unit - 4x2 DSL 2.5L D4D. He paid cash. I was with him when we claimed the unit. Add-on was only leather seat & in-house insurance. THh price before was i think 1.315M + 65T leather seat.
He uses the unit daily without problems: eg: hard starting. He is very satisfied with the unit.

I wish malakas ako sa Toyota... I would've gotten my unit within 3 days of my order, instead of 2 months. A colleague of mine is a nephew of the owner of 2 well known dealerships. He got his unit (a 2.7G VVTi) within 3 days of his order. I was planning on seeking his help, eh... Kaya lang, ayaw ko kasi magka-utang na loob... Our units arrived within 4 hours of each other, from different dealerships.
*everybody: I was able to chat with a D-4D Fortuner owner from Thailand. Since the launch of the Fortuner in Thailand, he has yet to hear of a D-4D owner who's had problems with choking or hardstarting. Kaya lang, all the D-4D Fortuner in Thailand are 3.0 liters. They don't have the 2.5 liter variant. He'll be updating me if ever he hears of problems with the 3.0 D-4D. You can catch the thread at the Thai forum of FortunerClub.Net.

does the fortuner have rollover safety ratings by an independent organization? like what the US has with the nhtsa? nhtsa has rollover ratings and chances in terms of percentage.
its funny we often read in magazines car reviews, stating car x is fun to drive better than car y. They say car x feels more solid and safer to drive but these are opinions rather than analytical conclusions. In the US you have organizations which literally crash these cars - they are fitted with crash test dummies that are wired up to a computer, a series or a set of cameras and sensors. At the end of the day they evaluate the numbers and can officially say this car is safer. i wish we have this in our country.

BTW, ung 2.5litre variant ba manual or matic?
