September 16th, 2009 10:22 PM #17I think the Australian system could work to our advantage dyan sa Philippines. Dito kasi hindi permanent ang plate numbers, you can change it pag nag register ka (due to kalumaan or if you want personalized ones - & if your plates probably got stolen - i surrender lang ang luma) or if it was stolen; as long as you report it at once. Maski brand new, may plates agad. Pwede rin yata ipa manufacture yung old plates but for for sure you can keep it (the old one) for yourself & place it on your next vehicle. The point is that there is no excuse for putting "temporary plate" signs since you don't have to wait long for new ones (they have available plates in the RTA offices!!!- the LTO equivalent or you can pre-order online) & kahit luma na ang sasakyan (like my '89 Ford Telstar - yun lang kaya ng student stipend) pwedeng maging bago ang plate number mo (& there are no registration stickers para sa plates, sa windshield lang - or sa ibang windows ng auto). If the stolen plate was used in a crime, their records will indicate that it's a stolen one. If it's not used in a crime, random checks, which are being done by the police without necessarily stopping a vehicle at first, will get the user in trouble.
