July 9th, 2024 11:23 AM #1Anyone experience having a slight vibration sounds like plastic not a metal sound like heatshield it is only Audible mostly when going uphill around 1800-2k rpm it goes away below or above it...
I experienced this when I serviced my Coolant and Thermostat but I recycled my coolant in a good way...
PS video attached I have been parked inclined for a long time that's why it's showing low oil level but my oil level is okay this one the sound is audible at 7 secs onwards at around 1k rpm...https://gemoo.com/tools/upload-video...olinkgenerator
I was hoping I can get answers from here... We already double check the bolts if there are loose or something... I was thinking to:
1. Re do the Coolant Change and change the Thermostat again
2. Maybe Engine Mounts? or Tranmission Mounts?
The tricky part here is that this vibration sound is only audible if you don't have your AC on
If you have your AC on the noise is not audible or maybe it's there but you cannot hear it
Another tricky part is for example you are driving no AC and the sound is audible and then along the way you decided to turn on your AC because you are getting annoyed it will not disappear right away like it will take may 1-2 min before it goes away permanently or the rattle/vibration sound is no longer audible..
Any inputs will do.. Thank you!

July 9th, 2024 11:56 AM #2Sounds like some kind of resonance that is maybe getting cancelled when the A/C compressor is running?
I have no idea if this applies to you, but another area to check is the speakers in the doors. I was getting a similar vibration at a certain RPM range in my old SUV, and it turned out the foam rings isolating the speakers from the plastics in the door had disintegrated and they were rattling at certain RPMs.

Trace back which parts were touched, removed, or set aside while working on the main parts being serviced/replaced. Check for loose screws/tools that might've been left on the cowling or any part of the engine bay.
Try to localize where it is coming from.
I have a 1GD Innova and there's a known vibration/slight rattle that comes out at around 1k RPM.

July 9th, 2024 08:25 PM #6Let me check this... this is the New GD engine where the Thermostat is placed in the lower front part of the Engine which sucks not like the 1015 below models where you can find the thermostat in the side of the engine... I left it when it was being serviced... but let me check this too...

Did they replace any of the pulleys, at all? Particularly the alternator pulley? How about the belt tensioner?
Have you ruled out belt flapping?

July 10th, 2024 02:47 PM #10i agree with the resonance.
now, the problem is zero-ing in on the source. knowing the approximate location helps.
i would make large effort to go over the entire vehicle, perhaps even have the car lifted at the gas station so's i can get a better look at the underside.
i would go over the engine bay, looking for loose parts.
in my innova, i twice had two strange sounds.
the first, was traced to air cleaner spring clips that i forgot to re-clip on.
the second, was traced to my lower glove compartment cover; when i removed it to service my aircon filter, the felt dampeners on the swivel joints fell of.Last edited by dr. d; July 10th, 2024 at 02:51 PM.
