October 28th, 2018 11:48 PM #1Hi Sir/experts/ experienced,
I am seeking some advise for my 2010 honda city.
So it started when my breaks (front left) wasnt working. I had it checked and it turns out the abs is not working.
I canvassed at honda and it would cost about 16k-20k to fix. So like any other matipid, went to banawe and got surplus parts.
I had the whole abs replaced for 5,500. It actually working well now brakes are all ok.
HOWEVER, after driving a few kms, the ABS warning light and break light turned on and this is were the wicked problem started.
I went back to the shop I got the abs, the checked and had it scanned and error is: 71-33 “right-front pr left-rear different diameter tyre malfunction”.
Actions taken so far:
I had it replaced by a new abs from the same shop but still SAME ERROR.
I had my tires balanced and aligned and still same error
I checked all tires are same size naman.
Guys at the shop didnt want to replace the abs sensor since it is not showing up as the error
Questions/help needed:
- has anyone had this error before? What did you do?
- is this common for honda city 2010
- any recomendation on a place to have this checked? Yung mura sana pero magaling.
- in case sensor talaga need palitan. Any reco where to buy, how much?
Thanks in advance guys, hope to get some clarity on my problem.

I also have a 2010 city. Never experienced that issue.
If they already replaced the ABS pump and the warning light is still on, it may be one of the wheel sensors. Get your car scanned at a shop that can also “detect” faults with the ABS system, so it can tell you exactly what component is faulty.

if no fluid is coming out, it probably wasnt bled properly.
during hard braking abs senses wheel lock, if it does it will cyclicly remove/apply hydraulic pressure. if you see tire tracks that are on and off.. thats abs working on a vehicle in an emergency braking scenario.

October 29th, 2018 10:40 PM #7First, there is no listing for code 71-31.
Second, if it was tire position 2 and tire position 3 ( FR and RL), it would be code 71-21 or code 71-27.
Follow these steps.

the abs probably compares diagonally aka fr-rl and fl-rr
front left - rear left
front left - rear right
im guessing comparator detects too much speed difference between the two sensors.
one sensor is probably defective or dirty
