Rain X (and similar products) is not a good idea. It's like a drug, once you start using it, you need to keep using it so your wipers won't skip. It's very very hard to remove.

They are good to use in areas that are clean and not so dusty. But in our country it doesn't work so well.

^ I actually find RainX and other brands of rain repellent very, very useful. Since the water beads on the glass like it does on waxed surfaces, visibility is greatly improved when it's raining even before using the wipers. Skipping is minimal and only when there is just a little water to wipe off the windshield (like during light rain/drizzle).

I only reapply every 4-6 months or so, not really a hassle to maintain.

Question: is it normal for the tachometer to go from 600-700 rpm to 900 rpm (and back) while idling? my wife's mu-x just holds at a steady 900 rpm when idling.

i sometimes also feel a slight vibration (as if the car was beside a piledriver) when i'm at idle. im not sure if the vibration is just my imagination, but i'm sure about the tachometer going from 600-700 rpm to 900 rpm (and back) while idling.

it's an iL with about 200km on the odometer.

    thanks, guys.

    Did the check-light come on?

At only 7,0xx kms, one morning I experienced rough/weak idle. Idle was around 800-900 rpm instead of the usual 1100 rpm. But with noticeable vibration. Later in the day, the C-E-L and traction control indicator came on with the cruise control lights blinking. If you drive the vehicle in this condition, it goes into limp mode and fuel consumption higher.

Brought it to M.I. casa, they cleaned the throttle body. That cured the problem.

First time to encounter a vehicle that needed throttle body cleaning at this age and mileage.

Nope, the CEL did not turn on.

On one hand, I'm glad to know that other people have noticed it too, but on the other hand, I'm a bit more wary about the build quality.

Did the casa charge the cleaning of the throttle body to the warranty?
