I'm assuming a 2011-12 Forester 2.0 vs. a 2010 CRV 2.0?
Definitely Forester.
Forester has AWD vs CRV none
Front airbags + Curtain airbag + side airbag vs CRV 2.0 front only
Forester sunroof vs CRV none - Ok this is a novelty. But I like it!
Forester better equipped (headlight washer, factory HID, traction control, middle passenger seat belt, child seat latch?, etc..) vs CRV none of that.
Ok passenger space is more spacious in CRV bec. it does not have that hump in the middle. Forester has that hump bec. of the shafting for the AWD.

March 2nd, 2016 04:13 PM #1742do you really have to floor the gas pedal when passing/overtaking? subarus passing power is great, haven't floored my forester 2p yet.
don't like to strain the motor too much. love the sound of the reving boxer engine. pero naaawa ako. hehe

Remember, the Subaru Forester has a horizontal boxer engine so flood fording ability isn't really that great even if it has 200 / 210 mm ground clearance.

March 4th, 2016 08:53 PM #1745Thanks for the clarification, I was quite wary when the SA pointed to an area well above the wheels when he pointed the flood crossing ability of my 2.0i-L. Better don't take the claim at face value.
My car shopping research during a 5 month period focused on the CRV as my preferred choice, largely because of the pretty cool DRL and the ever reliable Honda badge (I also have a 2004 Civic and it never gave me problems though its largely talyer-maintained). CRVs were also the revered car back in my college days (batch 2004), and the child in me marvelled at them while I was taking the bus back then or if I saw one pass by.
I still can't believe that in only one month, I diverted from the CRV and actually bought the 2.0i-L. Looking back, I guess it was the image of the Forester being brought in Tagaytay and overtaking slow vehicles on the way up was the great equalizer, hehe. You need all the handling and the safety features that the Forester brings compared to its counterpart the CR-V. Moreover, upon test drive, two personas arose, the settled personality in the CRV and jekyll-and-hyde type in the Fozzy, but that's another story.

March 6th, 2016 08:21 PM #1747We our getting our forester 2.0i-l tomorrow. our SA mentioned that the hu was touch screen. We have not seen the unit and googled around but could not find touch hu for i-l.
Also i have been driving a crv for 13 years w no major repairs. Can the forester provide the same?

March 7th, 2016 03:28 PM #1748When I reserved one a month ago, 100k was the discount for the 2.0i-L with the new HU and 150k for the old one.
Based on my one month research, the only notable difference between the maintenance cost of the CRV and the Fozzy is the 40k and 80k PMS service costs of the Forester, which would set you back 22-24k because of the comprehensive fluid changes that come with the nature of being an AWD.
Another thing, there are persons that say that you have to replace all 4 tires simultaneously because of the AWD mechanism of the Forester (ouch). I rather say that this is pretty much a sure thing based on the materials I gathered online. However, my SA told me that you can change two tires at a time, assuming you regularly perform tire rotations every 10k. Again, I'm banking on engineering stuff I read on online so I'll be conservative and factor in comprehensive tire changes.

When I decided to go for the forester I expected the expensive PMS and parts that go with it. Otherwise I would have bought another popular brand with abundant supply of parts. Anyways, I would like to share with you the splash guard that I have recently installed.

Another cool factor if you drive the Forester is its speed recovery after turning corners. Upon the case of typical engines, if you turn the corners on a fast pace, you will hesitate to pedal the gas due to the feeling that the car may become unstable.
If you drive a Fozzy, the confidence to use the gas pedal will be there even if you turn corners too fast. However, this may come as a caveat as other cars in front of you may swerve into your lane carelessly because they do not foresee the described ability of your Subaru to recover speed.
