Quick question, I heard the Forester doesn't have an alarm... only keyless entry. Does MI sell one and if they do, how much to have it installed?

MI does not sell alarms. We have discussed the "no alarm" issue here in depth, perhaps you'd like to check them out.

October 15th, 2010 05:54 AM #673Hi,
I will be purchasing a Forester XT as soon as the color that I want is available. I heard from one of the sales people in MI that there is a 50% zero interest loan that is available in house.
Is there anyone here who is familiar with that and can provide details like how long the terms are, and if there's a catch?
Appreciate any info. Thanks.

October 16th, 2010 12:14 PM #674YUMMY!!!
The Sydney Motor Show doesn't grab the full attention of the global media like Paris or Geneva, though this latest bit of news from Subaru certainly piques our interest. We had heard rumblings of a more potent Subaru crossover before, and now this, the Forester S-Edition concept, previews what the automaker says is "an exciting development in our Forester range" set to debut early next year.
Subaru has boosted the Forester XT's turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-four up to 259 horsepower and 256 pound-feet of torque, gains of 32 and 20, respectively over the normal Australian model. That power runs through a five-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters (a proper stick-shift would be preferred, Subaru), and a new variable torque distributing all-wheel-drive system keeps things in check on the road. Other enhancements include a revised sport suspension, 17-inch STI wheels, Alcantara seat trim and S-Edition badging throughout.
Forester STI redux? Certainly sounds like it. Our only hope is that Subaru doesn't make this hot new Forester a JDM-only affair. (Fingers crossed!) Hit the jump to read the full details in Subaru's press release.

Hey Arnold. Thanks
I actually did a quick search before posting and did another search right now. I see mentions of the alarm but nothing in-depth. May I ask if it was a specific thread for alarms on the Forester or was it discussed in passing within this specific thread?
From the various search results that came up though, it seems aftermarket alarms don't go well with the Forester (or maybe Subaru). I'm curious to find out if it's everything in alarms or just some features. Like maybe leaving out installing the starter-kill option and just use the shock-sensor. Then at least some proximity deterrents are there.

With Subaru released here. Because they interface with the electronics and the computer. I've read the proximity sensor stuff and the programming part is tightly integrated talaga. So the USDM proximity sensor with not work with our Subarus here. Of course, the dealer (in this case MI) can do something about it, if they want to.

October 24th, 2010 09:57 PM #679Hirap talaga magdecide. After months of research, I've considred several vehicles,
1. The all new Tuscon
2. Escape
3. Santa Fe (Theta engine)
4. ASX
5. Forester 2.0X
From April to around June, it's been Tucson for me, but then there's the availability problem. Shifted my eyes briefly to Escape, bang for the buck 'ika nga but Santa Fe caught my attention.
I thought it's going to be Santa Fe na. I've visited several delearships na but then ASX came and it got me confused again. From August to September, I've visited several Mitsubishi dealearships. One dealership had me pre approved sa BPI pa nga.
Then one Sunday, I visited Motor Image, saw the Forester up close. Fell in love with it, with all the standard features, bang for the buck na din.
I remembered I made an online inquiry for Forester several weeks ago. As I was reviewing my email, I saw a quote for Forester. Called up my bank, and after a day or two, they faxed a P.O. for Forester. I went back to Motor Image to confirm the P.O., and without me asking, I was given an additional freebie, well... that's customer service!
So wala ng atrasan, I asked for Dark Grey Metallic. Deferred delivery until Nov. 15, so I can settle first my outstanding loan for my current car.
After backreading all 40+ pages of this thread, it made me decide to get the Forester 2.0X.
Mejo nakakainip nga lang kasi I still have to wait a few more weeks before I could join the satisfied rank of Forester owners.
